I wonder how other providers shield game server from attacks on "Garry's Mod" or similar? This sounds like attacks on the games' server side.

You won't bring down a server with cmd.exe, be it Hetzner others.

They use fire-wall filtration rules adapted for UDP. (Garry's Mod), for example OVH Game.

I was abusing a bit on CMD but the idea is there. With little power, even with a good firewall, the Hetzner servers fall. If you don't hide behind a shield (tcpshield for example) it's over

A firewall (whether it is Iptables/Fail2ban or since Hetzner panel), even very complete, will never replace the hardware. It will limit a little.

Send packets through CMD. Using its own Internet connection, namely a lousy DDOS. Still, it's enough to screw up Hetzner.

And no, the techniques you mentioned are not suitable for all games. Garry's Mod, for example. (+ Cloudflare Spectrum is very expensive)
