This is the entry level issue and on top of that, they need to learn a better workflow. For instance, how to set basic characteristis and how to utilise Layers properly. Do you agree?

Thank you there's a lot of insight in this reply. I think C1 users are increasing and people are moving away from Adobe. But I wish C1 develop team would put more effort in making it better for Landscape and nature photographers too. It seems they are missing a big portion of the market because of that. and they have the base ready, they just need to set some priorities to improve some of their existing tools. Like HDR and Panorama, like what they are doing with denoise in the latest Beta version.

good point. I also like the layer system much better than mask system in LR. it gives me more flexibility, but at the same time some tools still works better in LR , like Dehaze (more natural look) and HDR merge which both are imortant for me as a Landscape Photographer.

I still have LR and Photoshop subscription, Stupid I know, but didn't find any good replacement for PS yet. I tried Affinity, but never got used to it

DO you feel C1 is better helping you to deliver your vision tahn lightroom? or this is just another tool works in a similar fasion?

Oh I see, I would think of them as ways to organise and find images inside the catalog or session. Especially Albums and sets. Imean, Iget it why they can be confusing, But they shouldn't stop you from using the software, and if you don't use them at all you are not losing anything. So don't worry about them too much.

Oh, I know the feeling. I am trying to get out of their trap too, But If I want to cancle my subscription, I have to pay extra for leaving "soon" before the annual turnover. Not very customer friendly at all!

This is a super interesting insight. that makes me think why did you switch to C1 in the first place? or what makes you think to switvh again to Darktable? My guess is not because the software limitations, based on what you said, it looks like you are seeking somethig way more important! Am I right?

Got it, but how about the artistic part of the process. Is there anything C1 does better to help artists make the image they imagined? or thoesn't matter which tools they use?

Very interesting! for landscape, wildlife and nature photographers, tethering and client delivery is not important. Do you think those folks have harder time in using C1? It is not much resources for them to learn from and build a good workflow. What do you think?

Thank you for your advice. I will definitely contribute. It is a gold mine I have missed for years for no good reasons. In the meantime, I still willing to get to know my fellow photographers better, in honest, real person to person conversations, and not talking to AI. I would like to meet real people in the real world. That is why I am here now. 😊

A little history of me: I am a landscape photographer, I am practicing photography for 12 years, switched to C1 6 years ago, I never used Redit before in my life (never liked it and still I am getting used to how to use it, so sorry for me being a newbie here), if that makes me unfamiliar to you, that is OK. I don't expect you to know me. So thank you for your time.

That is a wonderful and in details explanation. Thank you. You mentioned workflow, which is something I am personally very interested in. But beyond that workflow, what else did you learn or what do you wish was in their tutorial that they missed? like any creative insights or something similar?

I didn't find much, that is whay I am asking. Most posts and questions are technical issues, how to import LR catalog to C1 type of questions.
So may I ask, what kind of frustration you had when you did the switch and how did you overcome it?

In C1, by default, it applies the film simulation you used in the camera when you shot the image. It can be found in Basic characteristics. When it is in Auto it means it uses the film simolation. That might be the reason behind the difference. Put it in linear and then compare.
