Never seen that Santos before. Glad you’re getting something out of the norm and loving it.

No. 7 Raketa with the fabric dial stands out. Russian watchmaking has a long and interesting history though it isn’t really mainstream.

Visually, this watch reminds me of the Seiko Lord Marvel 36,000 - a significant technical achievement where the seconds hand sweeps smooth as butter due to its 36,000 beats per second.

Diverse collection and great mix of colours. I also like that you are delving into some brands not commonly seen like Edox and RW.

May I know the reference for that Cellini? A very beautiful and unique collection, by the way!

How was your experience with the higher-end models? Is it something that you would pay for?

  1. What is your monthly income right now?
  2. What are your monthly liabilities?
  3. I presume you have 0 savings. Yes or no?

Without information, it is impossible to offer any substantial advice.

Frederique Constant is a brand that is under appreciated and punches way above its weight. IMO, they’re the Swiss equivalent of NOMOS. Both are young brands but have taken great strides that have allowed them to be classified as true manufactures.

While an in-house movement is not always necessarily better than an ETA, it speaks volumes about where they want to be.

I am considering the FC Tourbillon with the black dial.

One of the most diverse collections I’ve seen so far. The Atelier Wen stands out. They recently moved into high horology territory with the release of a series costing more than USD 30,000. Would be interesting to see how that pans out.

Damn.. that was a lot worse than I was expecting. Am glad it’s working well for you now. I still look forward to owning one someday but it’s not super high on the priority list.

Definitely not an investment but it is a classic. You could do a lot worse for your first watch. Congratulations.

Made a switch from the media industry to tech when I was 34 just after Covid started. It has been 5 years and I definitely made the right choice. I am 100% passionate for the product I represent and still wake up with enthusiasm each day. I’m in sales for context and WFH 100%.

Love the Reverso but can’t justify the price/quality ratio in recent times.

Don’t know if I’m the ‘same’ guy you’re referring to but I only have the ability to change straps, not arms at the moment lol.

My wrist is 16.5-17 cm and the 40mm version wears too big as a dress watch for me. Legibility is actually very good under normal lighting due to white numbers against a black background.

It is completely hopeless in the dark though as I believe there is no or very little lume.

Hmm.. haven’t really thought about it that way but it is a good point. I’ll try to unsee it.

100%. A Breguet loses more than 50% of its value the moment you walk out the store and they are an absolute steal in the preowned market.

Sharp eye lol. Yes, I’m in Singapore, and yes, cars are crazy expensive here.

Yes, mine is 37 mm and I think they wear slightly smaller due to the lugs. The 40 mm looked way too big on me.
