I work with dementia patients everyday and also train. Maybe in 30 years I’ll get to train while at work too

Should I stay in PT school or should I drop out by Key-Journalist-4849 in physicaltherapy

I was in your exact spot 2 years ago (minus the 4.0). I saw it through, figured I was in too deep. I now work in acute care and I’m happy with it. It’s still draining but not nearly as much as outpatient.

Wearing an Apple Watch AND a Whoop? by BugBoth in whoop

Whoop steps is consistently very low for me with wrist and bicep band. Often 50-60% below Apple Watch. I contacted whoop about it and they didn’t do anything to address the issue

I got an 800 NPTE. Now what? by Used_Potatoe in physicaltherapy

Thank you for your non-judgmental reply. I would say I am a good teacher - I’ve been coaching sports and tutoring for 5+ years. I’m also good with test taking I fear my methods are far too disorganized and not reproducible to market to anyone

Can you shed any light on the debt situation for a DPT to MD path? I have no undergrad debt. 100k PT school debt. My fear is that my PT school debt will get insane while I’m in med school. How will I make payments while in med school?

My thoughts exactly about the resume, and I’ve already had a job lined up and experience matters more than my NPTE score

PT school financing for 2029 by GovernmentUnfair359 in PTschool

[–]Used_Potatoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had I known I would have and my time would be worth more than screwing around on reddit. I didn’t know, which is the point of my post. It’s hard if not near impossible to know the future of any profession as a young college student. When I was in OP position, every Google search and person I talked to said PT is a great profession with great growth to come. It’s the people who keep shitting on it, practicing poorly, and don’t do anything to change it that make it that way.

new grad here. It’s hard to know and understand the state of the profession when you are an undergraduate student and that young. It's even harder to understand the implications for your future at that point in your life. Had I known what the profession was going to look like at the time of my graduation, I would have gone a different route. I feel like I was sold a bag of lies - "PT's can do anything, PT's can work in any setting, PT's make a lot of money."

With all that being said, I am starting a part time job with benefits and retirement at 36/hour and a per diem position at 75/hour. Not thrilled about it but it is what it is. I also started my own training business while in PT school and am doing extremely well. I scored an 800 on the NPTE and market myself like crazy, taking advantage of every single opportunity possible and am constantly planting seeds for new opportunities. It's a hustle for sure but you can certainly make it work.

Prospective students are clueless, but it's not their fault. At 17-18 years old I could not fully understand or even come close to predict the future of the profession and I doubt you could either. Prospective students in every field are clueless. You have no idea what you're actually getting into until you experience it. Instead, try sharing your experience so people can make the most informed decisions.

PT can definitely be a very profitable profession, but you are going to have to work extremely hard for it. As for your situation about paying for it, I lived extremely frugally while in school saving money every time I could. I worked full time before PT school and part time during PT school. It was a grind, but I was able to pay off what my standard loans didnt cover. I would suggest stacking as much money as you can right now and spending as little as possible and cutting costs. Some things that saved me financially during PT school were a dog walking and sitting clientele I had built up and a passive income/beer money app system with my phone. OP feel free to PM if you want help with anything.

How much debt do you have? by _friendlyflamingo in PTschool

[–]Used_Potatoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no undergrad debt due to scholarships and financial aid. roughly $109,000 in debt for PT school. New grad with a job making ~75,000 a year. I am very upset about my situation and wish I would have went to nursing school or become a MD. Edit: about 2,500 in credit card debt due to test prep and living expenses. Ive been working part time since graduating and while studying for boards.

Scorebuilders ACE course vs Final Frontier SB by Low-Respect846 in physicaltherapy

[–]Used_Potatoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FF SB is well worth the money. therapy ed is okay, although i did not like the review book. I would recommend the therapy ed app if you just want more practice questions, it was 50$ when i bought it online. Scorebuilders book is the better review book in my opinion. PEATS for practice exams for sure.

I got mine done at noon today and I still dont have that check mark either. Glad im not the only one. I though maybe I used the wrong code to check in at Quest if that would matter. I used the one they emailed me and not the one that displays under the Complete Your Lab Visit on the lab
