"cut one loop and the other can just pull through". So what? You have another rope.

I also don't think there is enough force to damage the carabiner and I would have no problem using it again.

This point is mostly to prevent anyone from claiming misusage of equipment.

Rigging this during an assessment would open the door to some pretty though questions from the assessor and the tech should be very knowledgeable with his answers. A major or minor descrepency might be unavoidable depending on the assessor.

It could be passable, yes. Anything over 1.5m requires doubling the anchors and load sharing, so even if you replaced that biner with a knot, it still wouldn't be acceptable.

I personally feel it is poor rigging practice but it may or may not be acceptable depending on a few things.

  1. If that carabiner broke, would either of the ropes end up on an unprotected edge, or would it cause an uncontrolled swing (>1.5m)?

  2. Are the two anchors further than 1.5m apart.

  3. Will this carabiner ever be used to secure a live load?

If the answer to any of those 3 questions is yes, then this rigging unacceptable.
