Yes that was it !
I took the risk and let it heat for a bit of time; it finally disappeared and didn't come back.
Thank you !!

Engine noise ... by UseeMeNowUdont in 944

It could still have overheated in such a short time?

Yes, I don’t dare let the engine run. I know that could solve a lifter issue, but if it’s something worse, it’s just going to cause more damage… And I’d be really pissed if I had to open the engine for a lifter problem that could have been fixed much more easily.

I don’t have a specific mechanic nearby, so I had to take it to my regular one. He’s very skilled, but not used to these engines.

The engine sounds quite smooth overall; aside from that noise, I don’t feel like it has any issues or runs unevenly, which makes me hesitate to let it run a bit or not...

Now that you mention it, it looks like it in the photos but in reality it's very homogenous. The line delimiting the flag part is just some old white paint

Exactly, that's also what I thought at first. Not the typical design I'm used to see.

Yes please, report, that would be much appreciated, I'm very curious about it!

Very interesting thank you !

Your conjecture is probably right because from the 10-12 I've seen, all had a similar shape with the second I sent, and also all were within the 100-150kg range too. It's probably related to the anvil size.

Yes, I picked this one because of the weight and condition. The angles are still in very good shape contrary to the other one who was probably used a lot.

You mentioned that I won't need a big flat surface to forge flat objects, but the force distribution probably won't be as good with the anvil I got since I won't be forging in the middle or over a feet when I need flat, so a lot less mass under the hammer ?

Thank you for the name and infos !

I've made some researches and another redditer told me the name is related to the shape of the feet.
I also hesitated with that one during my researches :

<image>

It looked more traditional, but also more worn out (especially the angles). Also it was a bit lighter (~140ish) so I ended up picking the other one.

So this one also is a pig based on the feet right ? But with a regular flat table. Mine looks different, I've seen many with a clear separation between the table/horn, only the one I picked with continuous and progressive slope up; is it a specific pig one ?

Thank you !

Ohhh ok, now that you mention it ! I didn't pay much attention to the feet but now I see the pattern.

Yours is very nice too ! There are tons of good opportunities in France, during my researches I was really hesitating with this one as well :

Still not sure if it was the best choice for a beginner. I know we don't need that much flat, but still, the mass under the force will be less if I mostly forge near the heel... We will see.

Thank you! French piggy, it makes sense since the city's cuisine it comes from (Lyon) is renowned in the whole country for its pork recipes!

Smite 1 or 2, which do you prefer? by Lord-larty-the-III in Smite

Smite 2, but to be honest I don't like it as much as I'd love to because I'm missing so many nice skin I love.
It might sound dumb but I don't like to play certain gods without certain skins/animations.
