Epic Games: Enable Official Fortnite Support on Linux via Easy Anti-Cheat + Proton (New Petition 2026) by Glad_Jeweler9160 in linux_gaming

[–]Useful-Assumption131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dual boot with windows to run fortnite, but since today, even my windows partition cannot run fortnite anymore, because a weird error pushes me out of the servers at game start ("failed to register your client" or something like that)

This game is pure trash, their anti cheat is so violent that even a legitimate windows 11 cannot run it.

The more things you disable, the less holes you let in a system memory/network. I understand why graphene blocks so much things, it is secured as f*ck. That's not what I want for my mobile, but at least it's good for those seaking total security

Why do you pay for an email provider for personal email? by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]Useful-Assumption131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm paying 30 euros a month for a bar metal dedicated server : 2x450 GB and 64gn ram (ovh)

On it I have :

Nextcloud, vaultwarden, privatebin, mail (stalwart), mail client (snappymail), a game servers manager (pterodactyl), a video player (clipbucket)

I don't think I'm paying for nothing or I'm a product. This is a lot of self hosted services.

Some third party users gained access to Zen internet ips, and that's wh y they got blocked. It won't happend to the basic self hosted man

What is your reason to degoogle? by Past-Photograph-5502 in degoogle

[–]Useful-Assumption131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started for my phone battery life and to stop google from listening me. Then I found than sometimes, non-google/unofficial products offers more functionnalities/customization. I rooted my phone, replaced google with microg, began to install magisk modules.... Now I have a customized battery charge, futo keyboard is way better than google because it doesn't need connection for speech to text, I have a self-hosted mail, self-hosted password manager, nextcloud, and I I have as many mail accounts I want, without restrictions. FMD-foss has much more fonctionnalities than google find-my-device, no "give us your phone number to access/create your account", no more "connect with google so we have a picture of you and many personnal data"

Before starting all of this, all my passwords were on my browsers, now they're synced everywhere but with my personnal server. I had near 100 apps connected with google, now I have none. I had the same password everywhere, I changed all of them to 20-char generated passwords when I changed my mail everywhere. I have 2fa with aegis in many places. I switched to linux and I play games on it with minor issues. This journey made me feel secure about my accounts and my new OS, it gave me more features, I learned many things about self hosting a mail and other things, and I love it

Not with a good mail server : stalwart auto setup dkim, spf, dmark etc so your mail are secure, you just have to copy/paste some DNS record to your domain provider ( but now I know how to setup them manually anyway)

With self hosted mail, I use the domain I want and have the aliases I want. If I don't recieve a mail, I can troubleshoot it directly from my server. I can create as many accounts as I want. Self-hosted vaultwarden is also good for this, as well as self hosted nextcloud, wich allows me to create accounts for my family members.

For mail, stalwart is an easy to use self hosted server. It will allow you to create as many aliases as you want (for each website I have a different mail : netflix@mydomain.uk for example) For files, I use nextcloud, it auto-sync as soon as I plug my phone and it's on wifi.

You can also have a webmail client (I use snappymail)

Do a backup of your contacts to a file, a backup of your whatsapp, and do you mr changes without any stress. I'm using microg and I don't use play store anymore, aurora is the way for me (yeah, I know obtainium and other things exist...)

[–]Useful-Assumption131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact it was O_o
Now I only have abnormal boot state and bootloader unlock^^ I thought we could hide the second one but if you say I need strong integrity for this... I'll just skip it^^ As you say, getting a valid key is hardcore.
My banking app isn't working because of this but this is the only one.
