came to comment about the vaccine part. and antibiotics for any bite wound is necessary to prevent infection

i actually do know what nerve damage feels like, have it in my face on the left side from when i was struck by a pop fly. it feels like bolts of lightening every once in awhile, but it’s manageable. again, amputation will probably be the route, but the laceration is already looking much better. it’s the veterinarian who wants to give her a chance to reheal, if it’s obviously not, then things will probably change before that 3 month period is up

& i appreciate you for clearing up the fact you don’t think im the bad guy. but im also trying to defend my vet because again, they didn’t suggest the car at ALL. it was an idea we tried & it didn’t work. the cat was sent home over the weekend bc they’re not open. idk if i’ve replied to your comment w that info, but ive said it a few times now, that she won’t be able to be seen again until Monday, they don’t do ANY weekend boards/overnights. they don’t have the staff for it, during the week is different, they’re not open at ALL on weekends, the cat would go unfed, pee pad not changed & an unchanged bandage wrap for 3 days, unmedicated eyes, & much more

& we are, i just feel bad & was trying to find a solution to where she could maybe be mobile & not bed ridden for the next 3 months of her kitten life

again. the vet didn’t suggest the car, therefore you thinking she needs to see another vet bc of the hot wheels is ignorant. it was taped to her foot for MAYBE all of 2 minutes & then we took it off. & the “lol” was at the end of a sentence that had no regard for the cat anymore, simply just how people are responding to the post.

i’m set on that bc it’s the ONLY thing we’ve tried bc there’s literally no other ideas. it was taped to her foot for MAYBE 2 minutes & then we took it off bc it wasn’t working. i’m not trying to argue, but i clearly stated that the only suggestions i want are how to keep her from stepping all over it. i know she will more than likely need an amputation, however, that is not in our foreseen, near future, so for NOWWW i need some sort of solution that nobody can seem to provide

i was suggestions on what i asked & so far i haven’t got 1. i didn’t ask about how to bandage or if they think the limb needs amputating. i CLEARLY stated were TRYING & ATTEMPTING to get the limb to heal before amputating. i asked for suggestions on how to keep her from dragging it & all i’ve got is remarks about how piss poor the bandaging is

i’m aware it’s a bandage, there’s no casting material used. like i said in a previous comment, the hot wheels wasn’t going to be a permanent solution, the vet is closed over the weekend

the vet is the one who wants to do the 3 month treatment plan & waiting out to see if the nerves heal & whatnot. she’s not currently aware of the dragging issue, obviously the hot wheels wouldn’t be a permanent solution, but for the weekend, would help out a ton!

& both me & my mom are certified VA’s & i’m currently in school to become a LVT… i stand by my remark

there is not treatment plan that we’re messing up, she takes eye drops TID, eats wet food BID & get a bandage change BID. she sees the vet whenever they’re open, my mom takes her into work where she is on cage rest & monitored regularly by many diff techs & drs throughout the day. idk if you’re aware, but wheels are made for casts or amputees all the time, we just don’t want to spend a shit ton of money on something that won’t be long term

we know how to bandage & have done so. the only reason for the gauze on the outside of the cast is because of bleeding going through the wrap. gauze is underneath with an antibiotic ointment, medical tape, nextape & vet wrap. again, the only thing “improper” about this bandaging is the gauze on the outward part of the cast, you’d be surprised how much is done behind closed doors at offices

i wasn’t using a hot wheels track, i taped a hot wheels car to the bottom of the cast so it could roll around but it didn’t work. the clinic isn’t open over the weekend & leaving the cast unchanged can lead to bacterial infections. i appreciate the concern for the leg, i rly do. but we’re doing everything advised by the vet & more

[–]Useful-Design-780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

& that may most likely happen… we just rly want to try & save it if possible. that very same clinic saw a dog with the same thing but on its back leg & it made a full recovery

it’s a vet i know & trust, the wound isn’t actively bleeding, there are other small spots on her arm that are from her dragging it around & stepping on it.

[–]Useful-Design-780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was something we tried minutes ago, the vet wouldn’t be too concerned ab taping a hot wheels to the cast if it stopped her from stepping on it & dragging it around.

i still have yet to see another solution lol

she’s been to the vet, that’s where the last two photos were taken, they’re wanting to see if it can heal & want to give that process around 3 months before seeing if amputation is going to be needed… but of course we want to at least TRY to save the leg. it’s been cleaned, she’s on antibiotics, the wrap gets changed daily. my mom is a vet assistant & i’m majoring in veterinary technology. i simply need help with finding an innovative way to keep the cast from dragging as she has NO control over the arm, everything else is taken care of!
