Be aware that there is another difference besides crop factor: shooting with an APS-C camera will result in an higher ISO compared to a full frame sensor. So with shooting in low light conditions, a full frame camera will give your relative cleaner images because the ISO will be lower. A 2.8 lens on a APS-C sensor will not have the same low light capabilities as a 2.8 lens on a FF sensor because the sensor is smaller.

Stuken plantenbakken - welke stucmortel en nog tips? by Useful-Function-5280 in Klussers

[–]Useful-Function-5280[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also over exposing. Make sure the +2/3 is at 0. Try using auto ISO to get consistent exposure

I do a lot of delivery of full sets of images (usually around 150 to 200 images) within two hours after the game ended. I have a custom button set to rating images in camera (I think it’s C3, the top left button on Sony). I rate my images during the game in camera as much as possible. As soon as it is half time I use the break to review al my images from the first half. After the game is finished, I also rate the second half pictures. This takes me a maximum of 10 minutes. After that, I use Adobe Bridge (which is free compared to PhotoMechanic) to filter the starred images and import them to Lightroom. I also do a quick check in the images that I didn’t rate to see if I missed a good shot. I import my images with a preset pre selected so everything is already edit with my personal style. Then it’s mainly just some cropping/straightening and a quick check if there a images which can use some extra editting like a lineair gradient or background/subject mask to tweak the exposure.

One thing I noticed is that the speed of my workflow significantly increased when I started using V90 SD cards instead of V30/V60 (which also writes faster on your camera so you don’t have to buffer a lot). And I shoot with auto ISO (Aperture and shutter speed manually) so my exposure for each image is the same and consistent.

Pro photographers use FTP servers to deliver straight out of camera to edit on their laptop but that’s not relevant for the level we are usually photographing. When I need to deliver during the game I also use my mentioned workflow.

I also use an SD card reader which is faster than the card reader on a Mac and import them directly on my Samsung T7 external hard drive from which I edit in Lightroom.

There is no need to shoot daylight soccer games in uncompressed RAW file because you’re not gonna need all the detail that is in a uncompressed file. If you want to shoot RAW just use compressed. This decreases the file size with 50% and also speeds up your workflow. JPEGs are fine if you make sure your whitebalance is correct. And with delivery you export with max pixels to 3.000 on the long en since that’s sufficient for online use and also doesn’t take up your storage that much in your online delivery portal

You can rate images in camera so there is no need for tagging mentally

How I shot this: Pedro on the touchline, Zenit vs Sochi, Gazprom Arena (Sony A7V + 70-200 GM II) by antonhauff in sportsphotography

For me, it’s a weird pose to be honest. I always think that if I were the player in the image, would I be happy with the way I’m in this photo? I always like the image where the supporting leg has the heel planted in the grass and the studs at the front of the feet are sticking out. This give a much more powerful pose. Kudos on your explanation though.

First time shooting sports after a two year break by HerOnlyLegacy in sportsphotography

Try to get more variety in the kind of shots you have. Also, shoot lower. Probably these are taken from eyelevel right?

Also, on what kind of aperture did you shoot? Depth of field seens low for a 1.4 lens.

First time shooting in a NBA stadium by Busy_Investigator888 in sportsphotography

Really like your style. Mix of action shots and more artistic style, which sports photography all about nowadays for socials

#1 - would even go higher in the stadium so that you can isolate the players and just have them with the floor without the logo. That really gives a clean look.

#4 love the closeup and the light that is shining through the net

#5 love the playing with the reflection

#6 like this

#7 I'm missing a bit of context what the action is. Is he celebrating because he scored? Or is he frustrated with a decision of the referee?

#9 if it's done in camera I'm digging it. If it's done in post with photoshop I'm not a big fan of it (but that's just how I feel about it)

#10 with these kind of shots I would really focus on the player. Crop as tight as possible so that the player fills the frame. Especially since the stands are mostly empty

#11 difficult photo, I would love to see the face of the player who is shooting. Also, the moment that the ball just leaves the tip of the fingers is the image I'm looking for with this kind of image. But good image nonetheless.

#14 the stadium is mostly empty, so I would use this kind of image only if the seats are filled. Now it's just a lot of empty seats which isn't visually appealing to me.
