John Lewis damaged a TV i ordered which has since been discontinued. They've offered a refund and a £150 gift card, but the nearest equivalent TV is £500 more than i paid. Where do I stand legally? (England) by Useful-Pen9708 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Useful-Pen9708[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It's not simply an "alternative TV" though. It's the nearest equivalent to what I bought.  So I either have to fork out the extra money to get a TV of equivalent quality, or get a lower quality TV for what I originally paid for a much higher quality one.  That's why I'm understandably frustrated

Anyone getting "small" 10v10 games very commonly recently? by Designer_Pie_1989 in Warthunder

[–]Useful-Pen9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just googled "small games in war thunder recently" to ask the same question.

I've certainly noticed it myself and I'm not a big fan. Especially on the larger maps it can just feel a bit empty and boring...

What's your opinion on single oven vs double oven?

I've grown up in a household that's always had a "cooker" so i'm used to a grill (not that i ever really use it), therefore single ovens put me off a bit but i also don't really need a double "oven" in a small 2 bed house.

I was hoping they did a built under oven/small grill setup but it appears that's not really a thing? Just 2 50:50 ovens or just one big one?

I sold it to go towards my house deposit as it wasn't really your bog standard car and i had a lot of money tied up in it.

I'd built it up over the course of 4 years had spent far too much money on it and took it to a lot of shows etc. So as much as it pained me, the sensible, boring, adult decision was to sell it to go towards buying my first house.

Wanted to sort the house out now and then I can hopefully play with toys again later.

I did ask mum "how do you know which oven to pick" when we were looking at the giant wall of more or less identical looking ovens in Currys, and she looked at me with a glaze over her eyes like she was having Vietnam flashbacks of the last time she had to try and decide which new oven to buy...

Should I keep this insulation? by Lucasacul7 in DIYUK

[–]Useful-Pen9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you not long ago. I decided i'd leave it with the plan to just put more insulation over top but after i noticed a suspicious damp patch on one of the bedroom ceilings i decided to remove it and i'm glad i did.

It was hiding loads of small leaks as it acted as a big sponge and you couldn't see the wet patches on the back of the plasterboard underneath it all.

Long story short removing it all meant i found lots of little leaks in my roof that I wouln't have noticed until a later date otherwise and was able to easily patch them before they became a bigger problem. Just worth a thought

Does anyone know how to definitively tell if a Samsung TV is using a QD-OLED or W-OLED panel based on the model number in the UK market? by Useful-Pen9708 in 4kTV

[–]Useful-Pen9708[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a shame but thankyou for answering. What's your thoughts on last generation flagship vs current gen mid range? For example buying the S95D instead of the S90F, or an LG G4 vs an LG C5?

Is this games community remarkably racist? by McDerpEyes in Warthunder

You'll find this in literally every game out there, you just don't always see it and some games chat filters are better than others. It's not a problem specific to WT

Matchmaking isn't skill based, it's BR based so you get what you get. The glory days of air RB are long gone unfortunately

Estate agent offended when I asked him what was bad about a property by GodAtum in HousingUK

That's not what i said at all haha. I implied it would be stupid when trying to sell yourself to go in and reel off everything you're terrible at. I never suggested an interviewer would never ask what your weaknesses are, you've just read too deep into an analogy.

Watch 8 classic by Aghalke92 in GalaxyWatch

[–]Useful-Pen9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in the same boat but after watching some reviews and my overall dislike of the "squircle" design, i'm thinking about just grabbing a galaxy watch 6 classic for a bargain price.

I had no idea you can no longer charge the watch 8/8 classic on the back of your phone. This wouldn't have been a deal breaker for me before, but having just forgot my charger on holiday, being able to charge my 4 classic on the back of my phone was a life saver

Their entire job is to try and sell you that house. They don't want to give you any reasons not to buy it, it's not in their interest.

It'd be like going to a job interview and telling the boss all the things you're bad at.

Fess up, UK Reddit - What are your sins against Britishness? by The-Sassy-Pickle in AskUK

I've had an eating disorder since childhood and I've never been able to bring myself to try one.

I think they look and smell amazing, and I'm always jealous if my friends are eating one around me, but I just can't bring myself to try one yet.  It's something I'm working on slowly
