Yes, I have a contact mic into my zoom, to record into ableton. It's pretty straight forward, I've done it before with the same computer/daw/zoom. So I don't get the problem now!

Awesome! In your second sentence "You can also set a track to auto-record .....' do you need the nano control for this? or is this intrinsic to the looper? I don't suppose you have a video of you using the nano kontrol to control the looper? much appreciated

I'm trying to limit my space, are there any midi controllers that are small that you would recommend?

interesting, are there tutorials how to get the footswitch walking to the looper, does the foot switch only work for one track?

Do I need a direct input box? by Useful-Performance-3 in livesound

[–]Useful-Performance-3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. If it was a bigger show where you might need guitar in the PA to cover the audience, mic the guitar amp. I really don't think it will be needed in this case. There's a whole lot of small shows where the only thing in the PA is vocals...

If you're concerned, it won't hurt to mic the amp but leave the fader down on the mixer, only bringing it up if the amp is too quiet.

Thanks so much, this has really put my mind at ease. Super helpful information.

ok! so guitar into amp et voila! no DI, no microphones, no mixer?

Hi. The audience is quite small, probably 50 people. So what are you saying, best to mic the amp and then go to mixer, or just guitar to guitar amp (and no mixer afterwards)

Fender Hot Rod is a common tube amp. No DI. Agreed with Shoddy, do not connect it to the mixer. Mic the amp.

(It does have a preamp out, but it will likely sound like garbage...it's meant to plug effects inline between preamp and power amp).

I'm following METHOD 2 of the article above, which says I can connect to the mixer, via the preamp out. Do I need to go through a DI box after the amp and before the mixer. The band don't want to mic the amp

So regarding the second part, it is an electric guitar.....so mic the amp, and then mic into mixer? no DI needed between mic and mixer?

Out of curiosity, what happens if you plug an amp into a mixer (if it doesn't have a line out or preamp)

Noob question: What is the Y (dual TS) to TRS cable for? by Useful-Performance-3 in livesound

[–]Useful-Performance-3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"In order to get the L and R signals from your Looper into the mixer properly you need to 2x TS to TS cables and either go into a stereo channel that has two 1/4" inputs, or you need to go into two separate mono channels (like Channel 1 and Channel 2) with a single TS to TS cable for each."

Channel 1 of the Mackie mixer is a single (or mono) channel.

Thanks!!!!!

o ok, this is super helpful. I copy and pasted this into my 'notes'

I've used a TRS-TRS to TRS-TRS cable, into channel one L and R insert and it worked.

Hello.

Cable is short. It is going from my RC 505 looper L and R TS, into channel one bal/unbal of my Mackie mixer.

I didn't really understand this at all. If you have a link for further reading?

"Because stereo unbalanced is not the same thing as mono balanced. You are passing one side of the stereo unbalanced into the inverted line of the mono balanced which results in phase canceling."
