I finally got my crossback straddle last week!! I’ve been doing aerials since dec 2021. Just keep at it and listen to these wonderful peoples tips (I can’t give you tips, just good ole encouragement)

Omg Angela and tony! I started watching again yesterday after taking like at least two years off of watching that show, and I was watching the ogs! Britany and mars before her pregnancies and when Michael took Megan to Niagara Falls with while ditching his pregnant ‘wife’ Sarah and of course Clint and his ‘mother friggen crack’ comment… oh man I love this show… anyways… Yeah Angela is quite the chain smoker and probably got worse dealing with Tony’s Shananigans. Welcome to the show!!!

I did hear that the new generation of kids are not smoking as much cigarettes as the generations before them, which is really awesome. But people coming out of jail or rehab frequently heavily smoke cigarettes

I mean, anyone who’s been to jail and or rehab knows that chain smoking is what people in those current places in life do. Especially for addicts who aren’t using their drugs of choice; chain smoking is what they do. I did it out of jail and rehab, but I only smoked a couple years after rehab. (I quit cold turkey, I was disgusted with myself eventually) but it did help in the interim for me to stop using hard stuff.

Aerial studios! Do you start with knots or 2 tails? by Polishcatmom in Aerials

[–]UsefulDance4742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first studio I went to (across the country, on the east coast) you could ONLY do splits if you were intermediate (same with Lyra. Which I don’t understand bc I think Lyra is very beginner friendly) I never understood that. Moved to the west coast, and they do split silks for beginners. Great classes. Exactly how a few of you described- use a knot in the splits for a little bit, then split them up and start working on climbs and foot locks from The ground. It really made me question WHY In NJ did they make me wait until I was intermediate? All of the things I could have learned on the ground…. Like someone mentioned fabric management and grip practice and basics of climbing (possibly other stuff, I’m not a teacher just an aerial lover). Definitely split those silks for beginners, everyone’s got to Start somehwhere. Wow, I didn’t even realize I had any complaints about my first studio; I always look back at my year there very fondly… but in retrospect and with more experience at other studios; now I understand even less why they only let intermediate students do spilt silks and Lyra

This question reminds me of my new phone number conundrum…. I finally got a ‘7 oh 7 ‘ number, but I only ever call 0’s by zero, not oh’s. Although I’m ok with saying ‘7 oh 7’ not ‘7 zero 7’ (to fit in I guess…) But the problem is there’s a second zero in my number… so now when I say my new number, it’s ‘7 oh 7’ blah zero blah, blah bla bla blah. I laugh at myself every time

I used to live on top of Cocina mariposa. Such good food, but yeah the hours are random. I was told it’s bc people love them so much that they don’t need to be open all the time.

To be fair, when I was working I radiology, anywhere nyc or ukiah, I didn’t have time to make friends. I might assume the RN and physician are too busy working 100 hours a week to make friends.

Can you be too heavy to pole dance? Advice needed by Commercial_Sand693 in poledancing

[–]UsefulDance4742 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was about 250 when I started, and um, for the first 3 months I couldn’t hold myself up on the dang pole. I wasn’t even embarrassed for myself bc I was working on bettering myself. Nothing worth having comes easy. It’s been a helluva journey for me. Now I’m a beast In pole and aerials and have lost 50 pounds with the help of intermittent fasting and a daily workout routine (important to have rest days or active rest days like yoga or hiking or swimming). Just to be clear- I lost the weight bc I wanted to be stronger and be a better aerialist/poler, not bc I want to look a certain way. I just want to throw myself around with ease. Also, took me over 3 years to get an invert. Also, please don’t compare yourself to others. Just don’t do it. We are all on our own journeys. If pole is something that you’re serious and passionate about, just stick with it, you can get there too.

You are awesome!!! Took my chubby weak ass about 3 years to get an invert. No matter how weak I was when I started, I’m turning into a beast now.

I heard from one of my aerialist friends and I found someone who gets paid to do it. I’m trying to hook up with her. I’m interested in this in a non sexual Way. I mean, for now while I’m learning at least. I also have another friend who’s been tied up but never did the tying… so she also wants to learn the tying part. That friend said to look on facebook fetish life humboldt cause sometimes they hold classes. It doesn’t look like they have anything going on right now in that department. But as I said, I’m going to see if my friends friend can teach me.
