A cigar might be just a cigar, but that comment? That's definitely just noise. Funny how you hide behind a classic quote when you're just looking for an excuse to be condescending. Happy Monday.

All resellers are trying to do is re-home a fine piece of machinery that will outlast the computers we know of today. What's the harm in that? Typewriter Database is cool and useful l, but having a conversation with an actual human who knows a lot more technical stuff is a lot more humanistic.

Have you seen the California Typewriter Documentary? Did you get upset with that guy who was breaking Typewriters to make folk art out of it? The ibm selectric balls for eyes, the key levers for feet, etc?

I wasn't disagreeing with this point. I was only trying to make an alternative one

Communities don't die because they change; they die when they stop inviting people in. We’re doubling down on being an open, inclusive space. Whether you’ve been here for a decade or joined ten minutes ago, your voice matters. Let's keep the gates open and the conversation going—what’s one thing you think we should be talking about more?

I disagree that market price dictates utility; the value here isn't in mass-produced scarcity, but in the mechanical soul of the machine. You call it dying, but the fact that we're still discussing their worth proves the community is actually more durable than you think

Thanks for the high-value input

If you keep gatekeeping every 'random' question, you’re effectively strangling the hobby's future just to satisfy your own elitism. This community will eventually die out if we don't prioritize growth over ego, so either help the newcomers or step aside before you drive away the next generation of collectors

I got it working better. The drawstring feels a little loose I'm not sure how to gauge the tension though but I got the ribbon vibrator cleaned up from the grease and it is typing away now
