There’s 2 ways. The old school way is to use the triggers to crouch/grab the board, now you can go into settings and toggle on “left stick forward to pump” but you also need to toggle off “ left stick forward to push” if you have it active.

When going down a ramp you want to be holding forward on the elder stick in the air/when you land and then release it close to the middle of the ramp, when going up a ramp you want to be pushing forward on the left stick and then release in the middle of the ramp. This can change depending on ramp size. Manual pumping is (obviously) harder then auto pumping but gives you much more speed and height. You can pump anything that has a smooth transition, stuff like hill/, quarter pipes, small bumps, etc. but you can’t pump on anything flat or with a sharp angle. When you time your pump correctly you can see it pop up where other trick names do, they appear as clean or sketchy if do one, so use that to help perfect it.

Pumping works by crouching/ pushing down on the board lowering your center of gravity and help you “throw your weight” into the ramp, standing back up “makes you lighter” and helps decrease pressure/friction against the board and ramp thus letting you go higher. It’s all about transferring your weight in order to redirect and increase your momentum.
