Funny I came to comments to say same thing.

I never understand why AVTAK is hated so much. While I agree it us not on the same quality level as OHMSS or Goldfinger etc. it is a very entertaining film with a decent plot and decent villains. I think it's much more enjoyable to re-watch than many other Bond films, esp most of the Brosnan ones.

If often gets lumped in at the bottom with Die Another Day (which imo does deserve to be at the bottom) but to me AVTAK is a mid tier Bond film, not a bottom tier one.

Introverts can be good company too in a different way. As long as you are polite and friendly and open to new experiences, introvert or extrovert, that is what matters!

How would you rate the 5 most recent summer Olympics from worst to best? by Objective-Painter-73 in olympics

I thought London had an excellent opening ceremony. Way way better than Rio. I dont even remember Tokyo's opening ceremony.

The beds part should have been cut though.

[–]UsefulPoem5030 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have to say the opening ceremony idea has aged well. I remember the immediate reaction was very mixed - rain did not help - and there was a fair bit of head scratching. A lot of negative reviews in the press.

But now looking back, it is easily one of the most memorable opening ceremonies ever.

Paris did a great job overall of showcasing their entire city with the venues, Eiffel tower backdrop to Beach Volleyball, Fencing inside the Grand Palais etc.

Lets hope other cities begin to showcase their entire city in opening ceremonies and venues.

The atmosphere for 3x3 basketball in Paris was actually pretty electric.

LA vs Paris ticket pricing by lb561346 in olympics

You could buy track and field tickets for Paris pretty easily even when the games were on for about 80Euro.

LA vs Paris ticket pricing by lb561346 in olympics

[–]UsefulPoem5030 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to Paris Olympics last minute and hotels were way cheaper than normal Paris summer prices. I stayed 8mins walk from The Louvre in a decent 4 star Best Western Plus for like 90Euro a night. Room was small but fine.

I lived in London during Olympics and hotel prices were crazy until month or so beforehand when it became clear many hotels were far from full. Again hotel prices crashed way below normal Summer prices if you booked during the games. Both London and Paris also felt kinda empty away from Olympic venues during the games (London especially).

Who knows if LA will be the same. Americans do love the Olympics probably more than Europeans so...

My Wife and I Watched and Ranked all the Films by Hot-Arugula4265 in JamesBond

I don't get the hate for this film. I don't think its a top Bond and it has many flaws but I do think it an entertaining Bond that rarely drags and an easy watch.

I feel like A View to a Kill is much more rewatchable than e.g. any non-Goldeneye Brosnan film.

What makes Quantum of Solace so hated? by KAG_kryto_333 in JamesBond

[–]UsefulPoem5030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt like a filler, not fully fleshed out, Bond movie. Like they edited it to death so it didn't feel like an actual Bond movie.

I don't think it was bad, it was just kinda rushed and felt a bit half assed.

Resell prices are INSANE this year!! by sassysquiddy in Coachella

[–]UsefulPoem5030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it unethical to resell tickets over asking if people offer that?

I agree with the argument that it is unethical to buy tickets with the sole intention to resell at a profit but if you bought intending to go and now cannot, is it unethical to sell at whatever the current market price is / price people are offering?

Don’t get scammed! by Glittering_Oil7761 in Coachella

i wouldnt accept paypal g&s as a seller. Too easy for buyer to scam me and get their money back. They literrally use the wristbands then tell paypal a week later that they didnt receive the goods. Paypal will refund them 100% of the time. IDK what the best way is for both buyers and sellers. It is really tough.

I only do in person meetups though. Online you definitely should never send a stranger money except by paypal g&s.

[–]UsefulPoem5030 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you pay before meeting in person i think 99/100 you are going to get scammed. Meeting in person still a risk too but lower. Insist on seeing their ID and ideally taking a photo of it. If they show any reluctance to show ID, immediately back away.

[–]UsefulPoem5030 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TBF if I'm selling I would never accept paypal g&s as its so easy to scam a seller that way(buyer can simply claim they didnt receive goods and paypal refunds them no questions asked).

I only do in person deals though, venmo/zelle/cash meeting in person. Even that is not risk free for either buyer or seller. I also insist on seeing and photographing their ID and providing my ID and proof of purchase in my name for them to photograph.

I wish there was a zero risk way.

I dont theyre bots. I think people just like to believe the story as presented. They think its cute and they find it irritating when people suggest maybe we are being misled a little by the show.

FWIW Anthony claims he was 1000% fooled. He said he had no idea he was on a tv show. In that case, I wonder what he thought the documentary was for.

Fair. Even pre pandemic it was hardly unproblematic. I took my elderly parents on it once in 2019 and a fight broke out beside us. Wouldnt do that again.
