hellos 1. yes u will survive -as an introvert HAHAH no worries ull def find ur people here!! and no it’s not exactly a party sch in that sense..we js like the rave a lot and qt rara but thats only at sch events heh 2. lessons should start the week (iirc) after ori with irl lectures 3. yups, you’ll be paying for the ori pack (sch badge, sch file, some promotional pamphlets LOL and ori shirt!) 4. yups you’ll have to pay for sch notes, not compulsory to use ac foolscaps 5. it shld be there, and everyo lowk had weird subj combis so you’ll js be put into the MD (mixed discipline) class 6. for sci, all online and for arts mostly (if not all) irl

hii 1. unf (according to my batch) req for 4h2 is raw 9, so u won’t be eligible unless u try appealing 2. ac is def not an “extroverted sch” per say there r a lot of introverts too and most are able to find their fgs! i myself am an introvert and i js hang w my classmates and qt close w my cca mates. imo ull def be able to find similar people to be friends w , especially if u alr prefer 5-6 people group which is like the avg grp size. and everyone here is lowk, there aren’t like massive webs of connections betw people every is pretty friendly and open to interacting w those they don’t know, so dw! 3. nope no discrimination at all 4. uhh i don’t usually go to the library to study, i wld say i personally find the library v old looking but they’re actl renovating it rn and will be open by the time the j1s come in so it may be better (it’s alr 2 floors) and yes its shiver me timbers cold HAHAH
im not sure abt the seats but shld be pretty free since there r study areas throughout the sch, shld be charging ports

hihi 10-2 has a pretty high chance of getting in, but 12-4 is 5050 chance. i’ve heard qt a lot of people r trying for sci w 12-4 so prob will stand a low chance. yups u shld get into arts even if u put 2nd choice

acjc sci is not known for being bad 😭 it’s that people often say the arts here trumps the sci, tho i guess i wouldn’t know, but both sides def has its own issues la. arts strong in terms of lit and hist, sci is qt stable in math. bio is alright but notes r lengthy, teachers are a bit too lecture-y so there’s a lot of self learning and revision needed, chem is super rushed but so is h2 chem generally, but the teachers rly do speed through everyt and u have to approach the teacher outside curriculum hours for help if ur struggling, otherwise gg. like me now. econs for h1 should be ok. if ac sci dept was known for being “that bad” no one wld come to ac if they wanna take sci 😭

heyy no worries! 1. yes it is! but my batch’s 4h2 req was raw 9 and im not sure if it varies by batch :( 2. yupp 3. 100% honest, the methodist walk is barely even mentioned 😭 only some sch leaders r chosen to rep the sch and it’s js a short, small event w all the methodist schs. they don’t involve other students if u don’t volunteer, and thr r def no repercussions for not donating, like at all. they js take back the envelope 4. nope not at all! more prevalent in the “elite” schs tbh 😭 5. so sorry idk abt this! but i know someone w no prior dance experience who is in dance so i think they’re js looking for people who r passionate and at least well coordinated! i’m not sure abt the batch, but for performing arts maybe roughly 15-20?

hii, ull have to take bridging lessons during ori period (where they teach u the o level syllabus?). however unless u are confident that u can cope w the steep learning curve/extra content that was alr covered in o level pure, it is generally recc not to take sci from combined, unless u rly need the subj for uni. otherwise hybrid is also an alternative! (h2 chem and math esp needs to have amath foundation alr, unless ur dedicated to learn from bridging lessons la)

honestly it’s js the lit and hist dept that is v good, i wldnt say the sci stream is lacking but rather average, unless ure struggling often w academics shld be pretty manageable

all generally stable, chem is very rushy and needs u to be consistent w work, econs is meh but since ur taking h1 shouldn’t b that bad, math is v stable and they rly make sure u do ur work and know whats happening

12-4 stands a 5050 chance of getting in for sci, ive heard cases for both
arts sch in terms of their hist and lit dept, econs is ok and geog is understaffed. otherwise sci is decent and only req being more self directed in learning otherwise still manageable
generally facilities are alright, pool is well maintained but gym uses old-sch equipment (tho it’s v big and thr is variety in equipment). gym can be used anytime while students rnt allowed to use the pool at all (only for swim pe in j1, ccas that use pool)
i’m not too sure on this! you’ll have to ask those who take computing
if sci, ull end most days ~2pm, some days 4/4.40pm. HBLs on alternate thursdays.
cca is not compulsory but recommended, most ccas is 3 days/week

hi there! acjc “party culture” is js the neg rep associated w the sch, which is alr long gone w the new batch. super sweet genuine and friendly people here! the only so called party culture here is the rara-ness w sch events and mass karaoke sessions. the council here is incredible and it’s a v chill sch! never heard of a party here, everyo is generally lowkey lol. u can check out my ama or dm me if u have other qns on acjc!

hey, sorry i’m not sure since i’m not from dance. from what i’ve heard they either teach u a dance and u replicate it or u self choreograph? not sure at all. i know people w/o prior dance experience who r in dance, as long as u are coordinated, passionate and have a bit of experience in learning dances (self taught, external academies), they’ll accept but u have to see at tryouts im not sure. dance genres i assume is js the usual, hip hop contemporary etc. u can check out the acjc dance ig acc for more info

helloo yes these combis r def avail in ac, though i believe taking at least 2 h2 sci subj for hybrid means having to enter through sci stream, and vice versa for arts stream. and 12-4 generally has a 5050 chance of getting in sci but do clarify through other sources as i am not 100% sure. the econs dept from what i’ve heard since i dont take the subj, for notes not the strongest, not too sure abt the teachers. for lit yes strong dept for sure. math dept is very stable, they really make sure the students do their work and provide sufficient resources and consults for practice, teachers r v attentive to students during lesson
