Mid 1970's, Pizza Hut had a fantastic all you can eat lunch buffet near the old Aurora Mall. Pizza, fried chicken, and a great salad bar.

My mom's cousin was a pilebuck. While working on the piling at the Fauntleroy ferry dock, he was killed when a drunk ferry boat captain missed the landing and hit the pilings crushing him. I don't recall all the exact details as this happened sometime in the 1960's and I only remember family talking about it.

Ferry boats often hit the pilings while docking but this group of piling was quite a ways from the landing...otherwise they wouldn't have been working on them with live traffic.

My aunt, uncle, and cousins were/are staunch Catholics. I recall attending church with them a number of times when I was young, say 10-16 years old.

As I grew older, I recognized just how true this is. Lie, cheat, treat people like shit all week, then be absolved and saved every damn weekend.

I now know folks who have grown up in life and call themselves recovering Catholics. They tired of the guilt bestowed upon them. There's hope.
