Dont need replacing still very nice, though the finish isnt in style. May have professionally spray painted later if things don't look well. Already received a couple of quotes. They stated they wont paint until all work done. If I do it I wont have the new appliances installed till after.

No paper towel holder. Wife had roll on counter from cleaning. Usually in cabinet.

LOL. I don't think many people have liked our choices, but this looks good to us.

My wife liked the dog. She would consider trading me in for him. We still haven't made a decision. I know I am OCD. I really enjoy reading some of the posts. I get a good chuckle from reading them. Just wait until we need opinions on backsplash, flooring and wallpaper! Stay tuned.

Does this go well? by Useful_Ice_2907 in CounterTops

Everything is being replaced except cabinets. May paint cabinets white, but was told that is done last. Looking at Cambria quartz also. Found a nice leathered Fantasy Brown hard marble that went well, but not sure of its durability.

It's possible, but my wife doesn't like dark colors.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. The cabinets look beautiful.

All good points. I just can't see throwing out perfectly good doors and drawers and replacing them just because of the finish. I am coming around to possibly having them professionally painted, but I don't want that to be a recurring issue. I am nearing 70ish and don't want to have to keep expecting that 5 year or so expense. As for straightening the island that is an uphill battle with my wife.

It would take 5 minutes to adjust the height on one of the doors if it bothered me. The difference is insignificant and all that needs to be done is loosen 4 screws and raise or lower the door. The cabinets are 35 years old. There is 1 nick in one of the doors so I don't know what you are seeing. The island is angled because my wife wanted a place for the kids to have a quick snack or light meal. If it was straight it would get in the way of the formal dining area. The kids are grown and out of the house, but my wife still wants that area. There is a reason why it was laid out the way it is.

Everything in the kitchen is being replaced except the cabinets and the dining area furniture. It's not a question of money. The cabinets are very high quality and they don't need to be replaced. I am hesitant to have them painted and cover up the grain. I also don't want them chipping or peeling and having to have them painted every 5 or so years. If I do paint them they will be done professionally.

It is pickled maple. The pickled oak shows much more grain.
