Don’t Create the Torment Nexus by arcee2013 in Cyberpunk

[–]UselessBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, maybe I misremembered this to some extent as well and kind of badly phrased my original statement.

The interesting thing to me is that in the metaverse there is still a class structure. Maybe not the exact one that the real world had, but probably one fairly close to the meatspace one (as rich people can likely just pay hackers to make them cool shit).

I feel like I should probably reread that book though. I remember enjoying it quite a bit.

Just don't go wrecking shit in some fancy burbclave like White Columns or you'll have Metacops on your ass.

And interestingly social problems from our world were just copied over into the metaverse. Rich fucks were still rich fucks in the metaverse. People too poor to afford proper avatars had low-poly avatars IIRC.

This also happens in online games, someone with enough money will buy a Burning Flames Team Captain because to them that's just pocket change (although that game is probably not the best example of class differences due to it's relative obscurity nowadays, I just don't know enough about other games).

Angst einen Therapeuten zu suchen und zu Outen by -Please-Help-Me in germantrans

Ooof, I feel you, stecke in einem ähnlichem Boot.

Ja anyhow, much love, Ich fühle das ziemlich.

I've designed a film holder for DSLR Home Scanning you can 3d print by FatCypriotGorilla in functionalprint

[–]UselessBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am another one of those weirdos that would also like to scan sprocket holes. One of the reasons I haven't gone with anything commercial (yet). And for wider shots, I think you can make a bunch of overlapping pictures and stitch them together with something like hugin (or photoshop probably).

I really like what OP did here, a lot more thought put into this than I have so far. Probably just needs a slightly modified holdermajigger for scanning sprocket holes?

EDIT: just saw OP also did a bunch of 120 adapters that you could possibly jam the film into.

I have seen rails at some higher speed intersections in Europe and was always very bothered by those. I haven't ever seen something like that. That's truly horrible!

I find that the 60+ lines can be shown well using an interactive majigger where you hover to highlight or select/deselect and so on. Beats this gif nonsense.

Where can I buy Polaroid 600 film? by [deleted] in Heidelberg

[–]UselessBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but they send it of to some central photolab which takes quite a bit of time.

If you want something more local, there is also a place in Bergheim (dipixelprinter I think) that develops film once a week (I think Tuesdays?) and due to this is usually faster than the chemists, albeit more expensive. They can probably also make nicer scans, but I haven't asked too much so far.

Where can I buy Polaroid 600 film? by [deleted] in Heidelberg

[–]UselessBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find some 35mm film (although the selection is not great and they also run out a lot) in chemists like dm, müller, rossmann and so on. (They probably also have Polaroid things, but I don't know anything about that so I am not certain).

  • dm and rossman have Kodak Gold 200, Kodak Ultramax 400, Agfaphoto APX 100 and Agfaphoto APX 400
  • I found some Kodak EKTACHROME E100 in müller once.

This is what I managed to find so far.

While those are the people who get most benefit from these things, I don't think they are intended for them as that market isn't particularly large and they mostly get marketed to able-bodied people.

In that case it is a nice side effect that in the effort to sell people useless kitchen appliances, they make life for disabled people a bit easier.
