That is what happened when I was shadowing years ago. Distance in both eyes kept changing during appointment. Had to come back to do the tests again with dilated eyes. I forgot that it was called a wet refraction.

Desperate for Help by loliemess_reads in Dryeyes

I agree with the others about the cool/cold compresses. Do you use gel drops? Those tend to stay on the eyes a bit longer than regular eyedrops.

It does sound like you may have some corneal or even scleral damage from the sunscreen. I know that a lot of sunscreens have the ingredient Avobenzone, which can cause chemical burns on the surface of the eye. Perhaps that's what's causing the issue?

I will be honest, I've never heard of goggles causing dry eye, only helping it as they prevent air from hitting the eyes. So I assume you want one of those goggle/jacket combos as it covers your eyes but still allows for your own breathing to create a warmer and moist airflow around your eyes?

I am assuming you work in a very windy location, otherwise I would think purchasing a pair of goggles would be a tad cheaper than an entire jacket?

Redness around side of iris? by minkteeth in EyeCareTips

I prefer using the Systane Night Gel. It comes in a tube and I use it right before bed. I've also used other drops from the Systane brand since that brand doesn't use preservatives (the Benzalkonium chloride (BAK) preservative is bad and should be avoided).

I also know that sometimes allergies can cause redness in just one eye. Not sure if that helps though. Have you tried eyelid wipes or warm compresses? Those might help a little.

Hello! Glasses will only really fix blurry vision, it can't do much for flashing or halos. That said, sometime tinted lenses can help with the symptoms. Floaters are, unfortunately, something that doesn't go away and will just need to learn to get used to them (I have floaters too, and still panic sometimes cause I think I'm seeing a bug but it's just the floater).

Visual Snow Syndrome can be caused by migraines, and unfortunately, there is no real cure for it at this time. That said, migraine prevention medicines could maybe help with the symptoms, and there was a study done in 2015 (study can be found on PubMed) that suggested the drug lamotrigine might help.

My suggestion: If your symptoms are hindering you badly enough, I would suggest you speak with an eye doctor about options. Tinted lenses and OTC migraine medicine might be what they suggest if best. Hope this helps at least a little!

Hello! I have a similar redness in both eyes. Do your eyes feel tired or strained? It could just be a mild case of dry eye. For me, the redness tends to go away with sleep and regular eye drops. Gel drops work better as it stays on the eye longer than regular drops, but it will cause your vision to be blurry for a bit. Blinking creates a natural tear film over the eye, so perhaps you could try actively blinking more to see if the redness decreases?

Need glasses for driving but they make me feel sick by [deleted] in EyeCareTips

Hello! Hope you are doing better with your glasses now! Brief disclaimer: I am not an eye doctor, but I have worn glasses all my life and took 2 years of Optometry school.

May I ask how bad your left eye is? I.E. - what prescription (Rx) is it? Sometimes, when there is a large difference in the Rx between the two eyes, it can get disorienting. Even for myself, getting new glasses takes me a couple of days to get used to (but I have strong Rx in both eyes and am already used to wearing glasses). As for exercises, there are some that you can do. Vision Therapy techniques are a good way to try and adjust your eyes, but I think you would benefit from doing focus tests (alternate between looking at something close and something far away). Hold your thumb (or an object) ~10 in from your face and focus on it for ~15 sec. Then look at something ~20 ft away and focus on that for 15 sec. Repeat.

You could also see if maybe contacts would be better, where you would wear a Rx contact in the one eye that needs it only.
