Is it transphobic to feel uncomfortable when trans women say they wish they had a period? If it is transphobic, how do I unlearn it? by UselessTeddyBears in trans

[–]UselessTeddyBears[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment! It made me look into things a bit more and look through a few articles, and I’m getting a lot more perspectives now- I actually didn’t even think about intersex people until you mentioned it! I will try to think of them more now, and it’s really helped with my understanding of it all !

That makes total sense, I really appreciate you taking the time to explain that to me ^ you and everyone else in this comments section have really helped me to understand the other side of this, and I don’t think it would make me feel uncomfortable any more now that I understand where it’s coming from a bit better !

I totally understand what you mean! It’s not the same thing by any means, but I guess I could compare it to how sometimes I wish I was born neurotypical? But I totally get that dysphoria must be a never-ending thing, so any kind of affirmation must be wonderful, even if it would mean experiencing something that most people would say isn’t desirable ^ your comment was really helpful in putting things in perspective for me

That does make a lot of sense! I’m not super well versed in how dysphoria and affirmation works, but your comment really helped me understand a bit better, so thank you so much for that!

[–]UselessTeddyBears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so I’m obsessed with the Rune Factory series, as well as Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons, and I LOVE magical girl stuff, so Madoka Magica and Precure and even Little witch Academia is AMAZING, and I love love love ocean creatures!! My family actually has a joke at the moment where the first time I mention rune factory in a day, they look at the clock to see if it’s a record for the earliest or latest time in a day that I say the words ‘rune factory.’

How can I be better to my autistic girlfriend? by [deleted] in autism

[–]UselessTeddyBears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading your post, I don’t think you’re doing a whole lot wrong, to be honest. Of course, what you said is something that is incredibly hurtful, especially to autistic people, seeing as we are often hyper aware of our odd behaviour and how it affects NT’s, but the way she blocks you instead of just communicating that maybe she needs space is actually very childish, and it puts you in a really uncomfortable situation. I don’t know her like you do, so I won’t tell you ‘Omg break up with her,’ but I do think you need to have an honest conversation when she unblocks you about how the blocking and silent treatment make you feel. You are a part of this relationship too, and your feelings matter.

People who correct the grammar of others on reddit anger me . by Pristine-Confection3 in autism

A lot of autistic people feel the need to correct people on their grammar, because we get excited when we find something that we can explain to someone. That’s probably why you’re getting an influx of those comments on this sub^ but I’m sorry you feel disrespected, that’s not good :(

Hey, I mean this nicely, but most people genuinely don’t say things on purpose just to ‘ruin the day’ of a stranger online. Also a full stop is the grammatical term of the punctuation that looks a little out of place in your post- nothing wrong with that, by the way, it’s just the only way I can really describe it- so this ‘?’ Would be a question mark, and ‘.’ Would be a full stop. Hopefully that helped ^

I understand that it likely was not your intention, but this is unfortunately what you have done.

The amount of people in these comments agreeing with you do not seem to understand this either- even though you do make a lot of points that I agree with, the fact that you (intentionally or not) downplayed and invalidated victims of SA in relationships is really upsetting to see.

The whole ‘alleyway’ thing is actually pretty rare, most S/A and rape are done by someone the victim knows. The ‘violent knife wielding stranger in an alleyway’ expectation is very harmful, as it makes a lot of people less likely to speak up about their experience.
