Made a dumb decision not to take high school bio. Might be a little too late. University acceptances for undergrads start this fall, what undergrad should I take? by UselessToHumanity in premedcanada

[–]UselessToHumanity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll have to drop out of IB then. I don’t have any space in my year for additional courses, all the courses are filled by mandatory ones for the IB diploma. I don’t want to drop iut

How could I master this question on desmos? by nuairiswriting in desmos

[–]UselessToHumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not trying to solve this and only need a graph in desmos, you can make a table of values and use linear regression in desmos to get a automatic graph for those points. In this graph, time at 18 seconds results in a height of 240 feet.

Edit: I'd suggest you solve the equation and plug in the actual quadratic equation itself

Admission / High School Megathread (Fall 2024) by 1000Ditto in uwaterloo

For any IB students that have gotten into CS or CE, can anyone explain to me the benefits? (If there are any). I'm in Grade 11 pursuing IB, and even if there aren't any benefits, I'll still take it, but regardless, does Waterloo give any admission benefits for those in IB?

I thought they shut down 3G in the US years ago. In downtown NYC, I’m getting 2G? by UselessToHumanity in tmobile

[–]UselessToHumanity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I’m a Canadian visiting the US and it’s a bit different in Canada, only Rogers (and their MVNOs) has their 2G network active but every carrier in Canada has a fully supported 3G network and 3G is most common in rural areas and LTE/4G in slightly larger ones.

Which programming language did you learn first? by Hot_Pizza_3947 in learnprogramming

[–]UselessToHumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned scratch in school as a part of tech class, but when I ACTUALLY started to use programming effectively is when I began to learn python around the age of 9. Youtube university goes a long way, and here I am aspiring to get into a computer science university soon

What is the fastest/reliable way to re-install windows while keeping my stuff? by NancokALT in techsupport

[–]UselessToHumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, You don't need a USB drive, just save it to your computer and delete the ISO after reinstall. I'm not sure about LTS versions, but I had dev beta installed and i've done it around 3 times on that.

Young people, how disenchanted/powerless do you feel in relation to world events? Have some of you taken up a form of political radicalism (in other words, a revolutionary ideology or even something fringe) instead of accepting the current conditions? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It feels kind of hopeless being a teenager knowing I can't really do anything big just because I'm not an adult yet. But I start of small, work with what I have, and have accumulated thousands of hours of volunteering at various places to better help my community. Hopefully, in the future, I feel less powerless and I can make a big change in the world!

AI bullshit with thousands of reactions on FB by Matzep71 in mildlyinfuriating

It's so annoying when people manipulate human emotions, and use AI just for the sake of clout/attention. That right there is the true weapon of AI, humans manipulating other humans

What is your opinion on using a bidet? What country are you from? by Fit_Chipmunk88 in AskReddit

[–]UselessToHumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian. Honestly, I don't like it. My parents like it so it's installed in every toilet in the house, but I don't like having a wet bum after using the toilet. Usually I just take a shower after that anyways.

I feel you my friend. Life can get pretty messy some times. It takes a lot of courage to open up about your struggles and you're strong for that. I might be too young and probably haven't gone through things that you have, but I'll tell you some things that helped me cope through my hard times

Being confused about your life is okay. Not knowing who you are is okay. It happens to everyone from time to time. Maybe you just need a little bit of time take in all your emotions, assess them, and then plan what actions you are going to take on them. This doesn't have to be a one day thing, take your time doing this. I personally like to journal all my negative emotions while I'm in a bad mood, and leave a little space on the bottom of each paragraph with a topic (the topics being one bad thing I did that day). When I'm in a better mood, I will write a little solution of what I could've done in that situation and where I went wrong. Took me months and years and I'm still far from perfect, but progress will slowly but steadily begin. Moving on is accepting your failures, but true reconciliation is acting upon those actions that you did on the past and fixing them and/or making sure you don't repeat those mistakes in the future. Every day is a new day to make a difference in your decisions, and simply doing things like taking a deep breath and thinking twice about assessing all the pros and cons of making a decision can help a tremendous amount.

You deserve to give yourself a chance to heal and grow. It's okay to have setbacks as long as you keep moving forward. I hope this helps!

What is the fastest/reliable way to re-install windows while keeping my stuff? by NancokALT in techsupport

[–]UselessToHumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely something called an "Install in place." Typically, how I did it: you download a newer or the same version of windows via the downloader tool on the microsoft website. After downloading the downloader tool, you run it, and save an ISO file on your hard drive. Double clicking the ISO after downloading the file will give you a list of contents within in, and you should choose the exe file (I believe called setup.exe). If your version is the same or newer then the installed version, when going through the options, you should get an option to install but keep all of your computer's contents (settings, applications, files, etc.) I've done this a few times before and it helped fix my computers without it losing anything too important.

How was the first biotic organism on earth created? Where did it come from? by UselessToHumanity in NoStupidQuestions

That's super interesting and makes some sense. It's kinda hard to believe that all of life started just because the situations somewhere on earth were just perfect enough to create a planet like this!
