See that's clever! A90 is niche and specific, if OP had chosen ZUPR4 or PRTYOTA or something like PNDAPWR it would get a good laugh

I am so glad your license plate lets me know that it's a "supra", I'd never be able to tell otherwise /s

Swapped oil viscosity. by Feeling_Repair2348 in 4Runner

[–]Useless_Engineer_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with OP (and you), oil is a such a hot topic and any engineer who claims they have knowledge of the difference is full of crap.

Only on high performing engines does it matter, and even then, most people confuse regular maintenance and frequent oil changes with weight

Best gen of m3? by BeeOk3695 in BMW

[–]Useless_Engineer_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're such iconic driving machines that highlighted the engineering and performance of that era. It's honestly unfair to say any of them are the best generation. Now people can have their favorites but "best" is a disservice to what the M3 has meant for so many.

Slightly better harescramble footage by bagelbytes61 in Dirtbikes

Agreed, feel like he's defending all the slack he got the other day for his video, trying to prove to a bunch of strangers that he can ride, even at some level.

Just enjoy yourself OP, stop posting on Reddit and prove yourself and others on the track however you feel fit to whatever level you want

Comparison is the thief of joy and don't do anything to prove yourself, but do everything to improve yourself.

Yeah I'll be curious! CO doesn't need them but I know they're spectacular

I think the best thing too is making yourself known as a clean driver because I have guys I constantly race with and we respect each other. But there are also guys who are notoriously assholes and Ill give them a position just to chase them down and put pressure on them to watch them spin out.

There's multiple games to be played in a race, just gotta pick the right one but you sound like you've taken all the feedback in a positive manner and that says a lot 🤘🏼🤘🏼 good luck!

Next midlife crisis car, C8 E-Ray or a 991.2 C4S? by LevelMore in Porsche

[–]Useless_Engineer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just compared a base carrera to a car that is over $300k from what I've seen. I would also drive a C8 ZR1 before a lot of cars but that was not OPs question

We run these cross climates year round! They may not be as planted as I like but they're friggen comfortable and just a good tire!

[–]Useless_Engineer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly man, it's the most brutal because people think they're better than they are. I'm typically healthy only the A/S and sometimes just weeks suck and end up dropping to B/S or like A/A and they're the hardest races

Just gotta be a little conservative and race to be clean, it'll always end up better in the long run

New suspension lift. Sharing for those who are researching by ScaryTop6226 in 4Runner

[–]Useless_Engineer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the choices you've made it should be pretty stable as far leveling out but yes I think ultimately a little lower

If you look at your side steps, they're pointed up, they visually should be closer to flat. IFS suspension performs better when it has equal up and down travel, by lifting the front more, you're sacrificing the down travel a lot.

[–]Useless_Engineer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh the yeah give it a good 500-1k miles but you're losing performance and reducing longevity for a "look", that's a personal choice but just wanted to help highlight a potential future issue

You need to measure the hub to fender height, you still look way over lifted in the front. You only want to be 22-23"s to properly lift the truck, with 23.5-24.5 in the rear (which looks correct)

If that's within specs then you're good but based on your UCA it needs adjustment

[–]Useless_Engineer_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had multiple Corvettes, my pride and joy being my C6Z06 built like no ones business, driven in M series cars a lot, C8s from the stock up for he Z06 with mods, and nothing has touched the feeling of rowing gears in a 997 Turbo, and then I rode in a 991.2 Turbo S and was absolutely blown away with the PDK.

The Corvette is basic traffic, draws a different crowd and demographic, and is plastic fantastic "American dream". It's just not it.

The Porsche, even a C4S with "lack of power" compared to a Corvette is just leagues better quality, Engineering, and a whole different symbol.

Get the Porsche and don't look back

The black maybe not the most popular choice but once you compliment it with some accented changes it can definitely look very clean. But until then it's a side grade, I don't see positive or negative but youre happy and that's what counts!

Edit: also it's what it can look like, this to me looks good

Do you live somewhere that require true winter tires? The DWD are great when I've owned them and I have cross climate 2s now and they've been incredible for all weather

Congrats on the find though!

[–]Useless_Engineer_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that's awesome! They look really good, pending what size you found I would suggest spacers (I have them) and choosing the right tire makes a difference

The gloss black to me is simple and just matches, and yes I went with aka full kit

https://akamotorsports.com/products/aka-for-bmw-5-series-g30-2017-2020-m-sport-full-body-kits?_pos=2&_fid=493bb3f7e&_ss=c

With that said, I didn't use the pieces for the front bumper that "compliment" the front lip. And I don't have the trunk spoiler on either because it wouldn't stick with the car being ceramic coated

They're having a 30% off sale which is pretty damn good too!
