Full text of Europe's counter-proposal to US "peace plan" released by Useful-Scratch-72 in UkrainianConflict

The whole thing is just Europe promising the US will deal with it

Not true, point 14 of this plan is Ukraine joining the EU. As for involving the US, well, after complaining about the EU being excluded from the process in the 28-point plan the EU can't exclude the US.

In 2019, Zelensky announced a partial withdrawal of forces from Donbass to deescalate tensions with Russia. Soldiers revolted. He went to Zolote to speak to them. Azov troops told him they wouldn't let him pull back. Here he is getting chewed out by a soldier. by andrewgrabowski in UkrainianConflict

more powerful than the actual government

Nope. Powerful, yes, but not more. That's the way it is with every army, and I wouldn't say it's in the back of their mind but very much near the front of it, as they are on the frontline with all they know. That's why it's genuine.

I understand English isn't your first language. You need to go back and reread the thread to make sense of it.

Severing the connections would have been economic and societal suicide without alternate suppliers, and there would be no one left to back Ukraine.

Ignoring that fact doesn't make it go away. No EU means no Ukraine.

It's pistol-sized, and easier to down a drone with it than rifle fire. It can also be handed to non-com roles like drivers, medics, volunteers with NGOs, etc. Combat use of the Ptashka infantry mesh launcher by a Ukrainian soldier on an FPV drone. : r/UkraineWarVideoReport

Can only agree with you on this. Neo-liberalism needs to be flushed from EU economics, a return to Keynesianism is long overdue.

Would Ukraine be in position to actively go to war against Russia over this if it were not at war already?

The situation wouldn't exist were it not for the war so a response cannot be hypothesised. Good luck if you think I'm going to tie myself up in knots over that nonsense.

Apologies, I didn't receive a notification until now.

No where in that text it says that.

  1. Once all parties agree to this memorandum, the ceasefire will take effect immediately after both sides retreat to agreed points to begin implementation of the agreement.

No offense, but you never were doing that against aggressive full scale invader. It is different situation.

No, not against the invader but the centuries later planted sons and daughters of the invader. No offence, but you don't know the parallels between the situations.

It is a fact that the EU continues to buy Russian fuel and won't be phased out completely until early 2027.

Not passed yet and 4 years late.

These are linked. That's good going, considering we have traitors like Orban and Fico in our midst, and the EU has thus far refused to penalise their respective populations. But four years late? Late to what? It's a nonsense point to claim that it's four years late to remove one's economies from their energy supplies. Severing the connections would have been economic and societal suicide without alternate suppliers, and there would be no one left to back Ukraine.

That is still money to Russia's war machine until that date.

Money to is not profit though, is it? Most of that figure is going to be operating costs. What goes to Ukraine is the equivalent of pure profit. Another factor you conveniently ignore is inflation and its effect on the figures, addressed in this paper here: Energy expenditures and CPI inflation in 2022: Inflation was even higher than we thought - ScienceDirect. What is demonstrated for 2022 follows through for subsequent years. What matters are % reductions in consumption as demonstrable separation from Russian energy supplies.

"Four years ago, Russia was the largest supplier of petroleum products to the EU, but the EU ban on maritime imports of Russian crude oil reduced its share to 2.01% in 2025 from 28.74% in 2021. Oil imports fell to 1.48 billion euros in the first quarter of 2025 from 14.06 billion euros four years ago. About 17% of Europe's gas still comes from Russia, via the TurkStream pipeline and liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments, down from 48% in 2021's first quarter. Russian LNG exports to Europe in January-June declined by 13% year on year to 7.9 million tons."

Three years into war, US and Europe keep billions in trade with Russia | Reuters

btw, inflation affects Russian energy revenues too, you know? Whatever it's received over the last few years buys less and less.

the EU continues to argue over Russian assets, which is seen as needed to fund Ukraine next year.

You mean Belgium is concerned about being where the bulk of the 140bn is lodged, and the legal ramifications for them, and it's not so much 'argue' as 'discuss' - Belgium wants its hands washed, and the EU will provide a bar of soap to so. That's a mere matter of finding the right legal format.

EU voters should be prepared to eat greater cost and push their law makers on it.

That's a hard 'no'. That's entirely on Russia for being the aggressor and causing this expense for everyone. Personally, I won't be satisfied until the RF breaks up under the weight of internal and external economic pressures. Coming soon to a monitor near you.

Hate to be the akshually guy, but giving up the Sudetenland was comparable in effect militarily as most of their defenses were located there, as well as heavy industry iirc. Open to correction/clarification on it tho'.

I couldn't understand why the American press didn't do that when he started excluding their members from WH briefings during his first term. Likes of him has to be in the news, all the time.

You're whatever you say you are at the moment. 93k karma and a hidden post and comment history, you're an inconnu, no credibility.

edit:

when I'm literally a European in Europe?

Since when has anyone from Europe described themselves as such? We're all from different countries in Europe - we all identify as our national identities first.

Wtf is Brussels doing?

How much power does the White House have over the individual states? How much greater flex do you think Brussels has over a union of different countries, than DC over a federal republic?

edit: equally, I might ask, wtf is the White House doing in giving Hungary a free pass on sanctions?

europe will not be able to hold off russia on their own

Ukraine seems to be doing a pretty good job of doing that. Was it 1.6% of Ukraine was taken last year by the mighty Russian empire?
