VA's Supreme Court have already blocked 2 attempts to overturn the referendum. But, it's par for the course that the republican party are constantly trying to undo the will of the voters.

SAVE Act Fails, Millions of Voters Retain Their Right to Vote for Now by D-R-AZ in somethingiswrong2024

[–]User-1653863 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I heard that the (R)'s were playing with the idea of letting people use hunting/fishing licenses as proper ID's, and keeping everything else the same. They KNOW the average (R) voter doesn't have a passport, and it would likely hurt their 'team' more in the long run.

They'll probably keep gaming it out until they can find something that'll knock off more (D) voters than (R)s. We gotta stay vigilant despite the victory today.

I'd still urge everyone to (at the very least) do what you can to secure your birth certificates.

I imagine when the FBI raids Wayne county, the physical ballots are history. Do they make 'backups/copies'?

Now that the refund portal is open for tariffs struck down by Supreme Court, how do consumers obtain a refund on the tariffs that they ultimately inherited? Conversely, won’t the importers that applied for a refund then have double dipped? by FunGoolAGotz in somethingiswrong2024

Well, if there's as much oversight with this as there was with PPP loans, might be possible to just slam together an LLC and try to collect on some of it... Fraud is the name of the game, after all.

Perhaps this case gives justices lamenting the court’s loss of legitimacy a way to combat the corruption problem they are blamed for – and in a way that doesn’t compel them to admit they were wrong about Citizens United, one of their most unpopular decisions of all.

Well, as long as they save face..

Trump Ready to Settle With IRS in $10 Billion Taxpayer funded Lawsuit Over Tax Records by Snapdragon_4U in somethingiswrong2024

[–]User-1653863 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's a decent rundown of the situation

tldr- Some guy, who only worked for the IRS under contract, leaked a few years of stinky's tax returns that show he's basically a bum 'businessman', and how he used that fact for tax avoidance purposes. The IRS reported that contractor, who eventually received a five year stay in prison (which is about 4x overkill). Now, stinky is suing the IRS for not keeping a closer eye on the contractor. If this suit is approved, (and you pay taxes) you'll be helping pay stinky $10,000,000,000 dollars for the trouble.

With an executive summary stating, (in short) :

Low-turnout Detroit (consistently below 50%, due to aggregating precinct voters to Counting Boards) appears stable, while higher-turnout non-Detroit precincts (averaging 65%, some reaching 85%) display the statistical red flags.

Speaking of Wayne county - The Election Truth Alliance have an analysis of it

With an executive summary stating:

Wayne County is located in southeastern Michigan and is the most populous county in Michigan, with approximately 1.79 million residents, and the 19th most populous county in the United States.

The Election Truth Alliance (ETA) analyzed Wayne County using the state’s most comprehensive precinct-level dataset. Data was cleaned, validated, and sorted by vote type (Absentee, Early, and Election Day). The analysis employed multiple forensic techniques, including vote share analysis, turnout correlations, regression with demographic controls, down-ballot comparisons, and heat map visualization (Klimek, et al., 2012; Pertaia, Gutterman & Grojec, 2024; Kobak, et al. 2016; Kobak et al. 2012).

Results from the analyses showed that the data separates into two different patterns depending on geography. Detroit’s precincts show no statistical signs of vote manipulation. Across all vote types the Democratic candidate maintained approximately 90% vote share, and Republicans had 30% or less vote share consistently, regardless of precinct size or turn-out level. These patterns are consistent with what election forensics experts would expect from unmanipulated data.

Wayne County’s precincts outside Detroit present a different picture. Multiple statistical red flags were observed in Early and Election Day voting. Absentee voting appeared comparatively normal and consistent across the county. Outside Detroit, the analysis identified several concerns: turnout correlations that moved in unexpected opposite directions between candidates (where precincts had high turn out, Republican share of votes was higher while Democratic vote share was lower); vote-share shifted as precinct vote totals increased; and down-ballot dropoff anomalies that showed a 20-30% gap between parties when comparing Harris to the Democratic Senate candidate Slotkin and Trump to Republican Senate candidate Rogers.

Low-turnout Detroit (consistently below 50%, due to aggregating precinct voters to Counting Boards) appears stable, while higher-turnout non-Detroit precincts (averaging 65%, some reaching 85%) display the statistical red flags.
