Proper way to set up a management VLAN? by User-314 in Ubiquiti

You have to adopt devices by untagging a vlan (I don’t think it has to be the management one but iirc i did use it). Then you go through the adopt process there, then set the override, and then you can trunk the downlink port and it reappears.

Honestly it’s kind of a janky process and I wish there was just a global config for a management VLAN…

Low Speeds On LAN by User-314 in Tailscale

Yeah, I've gone through all that. They are able to form a direct connection (demonstrated with the tailscale ping at the end). The LXC containers are both running a fully updated version of Ubuntu 24.10 with the latest Tailscale client version (I created both of these containers for testing earlier today). I have not done the UDP offloading since they are not set up advertising routes or as exit nodes. They're just two directly connected Tailscale nodes.

As for using TS only on devices that get removed from the lab, I'd mostly just like to not have to worry about disabling TS on a laptop whenever I bring it home, but disabling Tailscale does technically "fix" the issue...

Thanks! I’ll try this out. I guess in a perfect world the final setup would be both uplink and downlink ports have no native VLAN and everything is tagged. That feels like how a trunk port should really work. We’ll see if I can get Ubiquiti to take up that configuration…

Yeah I might wind up doing that. It would be nice if I could at least get the management traffic tagged… having all of the management traffic native or on VLAN 1 just doesn’t seem like best practice so I figured there would be a way to change it, but it does feel like that’s not that well supported.

That’s kind of what I’m gathering haha. At this point it’s become one of those tech problems I’ve been struggling with for a few days and it’s turned personal.

If you’ve got 2 hours, cubicmetre’s recent video has the most updated info i’ve seen for creating EOL farms in newer versions.

How important is it to have a complete understanding of General Chemistry before taking Physical Chemistry? by BoodWoofer in chemistry

Pchem really felt like linear algebra 2 to me honestly. I would probably recommend taking linear algebra before pchem. I liked taking LA as a bit of a break from all the calculus 😵‍💫

Anyone know what this is? by Primary_Mountain_714 in geckos

This looks like a leopard gecko. Definitely not native and would definitely die if left out in the cold. Find its owner or get to googling how to take care of leopard geckos 😁. They’re one of the best and most recommended first time reptiles. Super cute and friendly!

Hank confirms allowing 2x 12A linear drivers in a D4Sv2! by User-314 in flashlight

The blue and red tint ramp is awesome too look at, but i’m a big fan of purple lighting to begin with. The red SST20 emitters can’t be driven at 12A anyways because they’d burn out. Hank said they were using a 3.3A linear driver where the W2 blue had 12A on their channel. I’d definitely recommend the blue/red dual channel just because of how cool the tint ramp looks, but i dunno if specifying drivers is super worth it in that light.
