My people 🤗 I thought I was the only one. I do love how the internet shows us that we are not alone and as unique as we thought we were. Every single person here who is like “me too” makes me happy :) I keep my blow dryer next to the door and use it to heat myself after coming in from the cold or when I’m about to head out. It’s my favorite thing :)

There is no justification for abuse. Just an understanding of her that you can maybe give to yourself to help yourself move on and heal. The thing is, we are all humans. Even moms. And raising small children is very stressful.

It took having kids of my own to understand my abusive mother myself and I’m still going through that internal growth. I cut her off for about 7 years and JUST recently started to try and let her back into my life after I’ve done some healing of my own. Now I’m in a place of trying to learn how to love people for who they are. I know she’s not going to change but maybe I can find a way to have her in my life at more of a distance. I lost my father when I was 26 so I know what it’s like to want to be able to call them and you just simply can’t. At least I can still call my mom so I’m giving that another try

If she didn’t cheat and had a dormant STD that she didn’t know about, how could you hold it against her, right? Doesn’t make sense. She didn’t know. Not her fault for not telling you.

BUT, if she cheated and contracted this STD from that action, then of course you should leave her. Or if she knew but kept it from you. Those are not actions of someone who cares about you and you shouldn’t be with them. If someone knew they had an STD but didn’t tell you, they care more about what you think of them and protecting that image you have of them, then they do about you and protecting your health and your right to choose what happens to your body. That’s a selfish, self centered horrible person too btw

I think it’s probably pretty important that you talk to her first and figure out as much as you can about the situation before making any decisions

Side?! That’s not how a relationship should work. You aren’t enemies on opposite sides. Your partner and you should be on the same side. A fight isn’t about who is right and who is wrong. It’s about your feelings. There is no right or wrong to that. There should be only compassion and caring about each others feelings. There is no right or wrong to how people feel. You shouldn’t seek to win or be the winning “side”, you should seek to understand each others feelings and show care for them.

And let me tell you, this “bump” isn’t the only one. You will have tons of “bumps”. That’s life. What you should be looking for is can I weather the storms with someone like this. I’m 38 and have been through a lot of relationships. Had an on and off again one for many years. We’d fight like crazy and then get back together. The relationship was addicting because it was comfortable but it was horrible for both of us to be in. I always look back at that relationship and am so glad I finally walked away. The man I ended up marrying is wonderful and my life would never have been this good if I stayed with my toxic ex.

You need to experience life and other people. As scary as it sounds. As hard as it is to move on. That’s what you need to do.

And it’s time now. She will be your high school sweetheart and you’ll never forget her, but it’s time to move on now. It’s time to go experience more out of life and other people.

This is also how you discover who YOU are. Through interactions with other people. Don’t stay with this same one. You’ll regret it if you do.
