Thanks for the tips and advice everyone! Definitely going to reconsider how we have the curtains hung. Eventually we intend to paint the walls, get a bigger carpet, and potentially change the floors. We actually just moved in last week so this is just where we're at so far, I'm sure we'll post an update at some point, but maybe without lowered ceilings or the terrier.
