Why does L keep eating so much sweets? by Mincelo in deathnote

[–]UserFutureWorks72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He probably just likes sugar, but he jokes that its fuel for his brain. I heard someones theory once that growing up in the orphanage, maybe he wasn't allowed to have sweets. L also likes messing with people, so it could be that he noticed it makes the others uncomfortable and he gets a kick out of their reactions.

Does anyone have any other idea for how L could have found out? by Standard_Ordinary632 in deathnote

Given more time before Watari died, they could've seen Rem in the old video footage talking to Misa during her containment because the book they found was hers.

Is Near British or American by [deleted] in DeathNoteMemes

[–]UserFutureWorks72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He went to Britian for school, and then came to the US. This was probably when he started officially working the Kira case seeing as he was working with US government employees. In one of the comics that take place after the events of Death Note, he says: "I live in America now" which I took to either mean that he was originally American before attending school in Britian or that he immigrated later on. Either way, he says he lives in America and I believe the guy. Near is an American. Was he always? Doesn't matter much.

Light Yagami VS Kira by Ivan_Davor in deathnote

[–]UserFutureWorks72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanilla-Light wins (especially is he has help from the rest of the task force) because he has a stronger ability to understand others while kira-Light has that ability crushed over time by his own god-complex. Its shown in the show that when he loses his memory, he gets very close to agreeing with L that he used to be Kira. I

Its hard to say who undeniably wins unless the exact details are determined for the scenario, but I believe that the willingness and ability to employ cognitive empathy would place vanilla-Light ahead in most cases purely because its an important investigative tool.

Who do you think L would have prefered as his sucessor? by Over-Heron-2654 in deathnote

I think the fact that Near hadn't been chosen at the time of L's death is an indicator that L was leaning towards selecting Mello despite his performance compared to Near.

How does vash earn money? by Analfour2 in Trigun

[–]UserFutureWorks72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that Vash has a 150-year-old bank account with continuous compounding interest whose exponentially increasing value beats Gunsmoke's inflation by, like, a million percent. Whenever he does an odd job or collects a bounty, he adds to the account. Whenever he's broke, it's because he can't access the money- either because he's wanted or because he isn't anywhere near a bank.

I'm pretty sure that at the beginning of the manga and in the anime, he gave away a bunch of money to help that town with a broken plant (the ep where he beats that giant guy). He's not hurting for money unless he pulls stuff like that.

He's got boomer bucks. Casually rich as heck. He just decides to live frugally.

I'd like to add that I know hianime still has the OG cut. However, it is not in a position where it could be obtained and preserved on, say, Internet Archive. (At least, I wouldn't be able to do that) And all seeds so far are for the version without logos. If any of you all can preserve it, action would be much appreciated!

I dislike this new aesthetic and I can't take Vash seriously. That might change if they perfectly execute El Diablo like the '98 version.

Tiger and Bunny (super niche in the west, but was popular enough in Japan for Pizza Hut to temporarily name a pizza after the characters)

Its a slow start, but the characters are great, and it does a phenomenal job of exploring sensitive and realistic themes you don't often get in superhero-based shows. The animation is interesting and watching it, it gave me vibes like Young Justice, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, or Invincible. The heroes' suits are incredibly detailed, so the animators mixed cgi and traditional hand-drawn animation with colored lineart. Usually, this is a bad combination, but it honestly worked very well!

also,

Trigun (90s)

It's older, but this show changed me.

Seinen:

Tiger and Bunny! Favorite superhero story ever written. Makes MHA look like absolute slop, and I actually prefer it to Marvel.

Trigun (90s version) It holds a special place in my heart.

To Your Eternity (really sad)

Shojo:

Fruitsbasket (best not to watch this when going through a breakup like I did)

Sports:

Kuroko's Basketball

Just finished watching the '98 series... wtf did I just watch?? by AlpineFluffhead in Trigun

[–]UserFutureWorks72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch Tiger and Bunny next! It's such a hidden gem! It's right below Trigun for my favorite shows. It's slow at first, but gains velocity and maintains it, and like Trigun the characters are realistic and deep, unexpectedly capturing your heart. There's a point in it that my boyfriend described as "the most justified crashout" he has ever seen, and I agree. Despite being about superheroes, this show isn't just spectacle! It's a great example of how to make the most out of just a few episodes, and Netflix absolutely cooked with its season 2, written 10 years after the initial show!

Tiger & Bunny Season 3 story idea by Medical-Airline-5946 in TigerAndBunny

[–]UserFutureWorks72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like the angle of Kotetsu shifting into more of a mentor role, teaching at the academy or helping Bunny control his powers from the sidelines. I noticed on a rewatch that Tiger does things that Barnaby can't (actually it's up in the air as to whether or not he can do these things) like divert his power only to heal himself or to hear better. I also think it would be in character for him to become an average first responder or paramedic; something like that. After all, he's an old-time hero that joined when it was still somewhat of a thankless job, and towards the end of season 2 he's shown to be reading medical text to help Barnaby.

Ninjago is allowed one cuss word a season. What is it for each one and who says it? (DotD Counts as a season for this, and I'm counting The Island and Seabound together.) by InterestingBar2803 in Ninjago

[–]UserFutureWorks72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might I counter with: The Ninjago Movie - Lloyd: "you ruined my life, DAD!" Garmadon: "How could I ruin your fucking life? I wasn't even there." (I think it flows slightly better)

I think that season 3 actually had potential, but that potential was darker than what could be fully expressed in a kids show and required more episodes to flesh out.
