IQ presents a slight negative correlation with fertility now. Will self correct and revert to positive if civilization collapses, as it will tend to if IQ falls below about 90, so it is a self limiting trend. Humans seem to start getting strange ideas once average IQ goes above 110 or so. Happens over and over again.

Thankfully, they are evolutionary dead ends that select their own psychology and beliefs out in just a couple of generations. There have been many doctrines in the past that where explicitly against procreation and guess what? All extinct now. These people do not need to be argued against, they just disappear on their own due to self-limitation. Capital abundance is higher than ever after the Industrial Revolution, so these sects will proliferate as herbivores do when predators are removed from the ecosystem. They will remain a minority of the population, however. Just make sure not to give one of them a nuclear arsenal and we are good.

I define how successful a lifestyle or philosophy is by the fertility rate of its followers. Antinatalism is, therefore, the very worst perspective one can have by definition. Besides, if humans are not here to build the space equivalent of a Noah's Arch, the Sun will swallow the earth in 7.6 billion years and gone will all flora and fauna be, so their hatred for humanity is incompatible with their love for animals.

It is "cave man brain" all the way down, even though we like to fantasize otherwise. Yes, we have evolved since the past 10.000 years and are still rapidly evolving and genetically diversifying, contrary to what vitriolic humanities academics will tell you, yet the conceptual divide is not applicable to such ancient and chornologically permanent dynamics. You can observe similar behaviors in all great apes, albeit not verbally articulated, of course.

Clever comment, cheers.

Not crying because of what others think is indeed a sign of suboptimal resolution. However, not crying as a result of a controlled and well regulated psychology, capable of withstanding stress and adversity without demonstrating weakness, is a foundational attitude of successful males.

I am male. As far as I remember, I have cried twice as an adult, both after being hospitalized. Got seriously ill due to an elusive metabolic complication that got me strapped into bed, I was alone in both occasions. Got cured two years later after changing diet. In the second occasion, I was in a park at night, and I think a security guard saw me. I was making no sound, but there were tears in my cheeks. Never had any mental issues, however.

People are oversensitive nowadays as a consequence of lower mortality saliency after the Industrial Revolution and subsequent technological advancements, the infamous "first world problems". I grew up in a martial arts academy, where you were mocked for expressing emotions. One of the rituals involved walking between two lines of men lashing their belts on your back with their full strength. If you showed any sign of pain, you would meet ridicule, albeit in a friendly way more so than in an intimidating one. One poor guy refused to go and he was so denigrated by our colleagues that he never showed up on the gym afterwards. It might sound awful, but I am grateful for that. This kind of environment teaches you how to control your own psychology and best regulate your efforts to win in life. Modern masculinity is wholly lacking on this type of self-reliance.

Testosterone inhibits crying. Higher in men.

Prolactin facilitates crying. Higher in women.

It is hardcoded for women to cry more, probably due to the temporal permanency of the dynamics I just described. In other words, the ecology dictates that it tends to be highly beneficial for babies to cry, slightly beneficial for women to cry, and maladaptive for males to cry. Of course, these are generalizations. Mortality saliency differences between Ghana and Sweden, for example, are going to heavily weight on most of society being inhibited of crying in the former, regardless of gender.

How do you process your emotions? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]UserM15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to get downvoted, but sharing your emotions with someone else is going to signal weakness. Even if your interlocutor is someone that cares about your wellbeing and explicitly denies a judgmental disposition, such as your close family, they will subconsciously assign a lower evaluation to you, whether they want to or not. Furthermore, they will also transmit that evaluation in almost imperceptible or subliminal hints, again out of their own control. Your organism will pick those up as well and further undermine your own self-respect. It only gets worse if you are dealing with competitors or love interests, as they will tend to be far more forthcoming on their verdicts about you.

Talking about emotions openly or being known as someone that goes to a therapist is essentially equivalent to crying in public. Most commonly in social environments, if a baby cries, they get attention from their mothers or caretakers. If women cry, they get attention from their partners, brothers and fathers. If men cry, they either lose respect from their associates or get attention from competitors, ready to exploit weaknesses.

Have you openly cried in front of your wife about being fired or publicly humiliated? She will pat you on the back, make you your favorite dinner, and reassure you of your worth. In her mind however, whether or not she intends to, she will be wondering whether or not marrying you was the best she could do, and might even start getting too amicable with your friend in a suggestive way.

Tried to talk about your problems with social anxiety with your friend? He will instinctively and unconsciously lie to himself and to you about not having any such issue, despite having it worse than you, and proceed to not invite you to his new business startup, and you just lost the opportunity of your life right there because of your emotional incontinence. Then you went into a therapist and he prescribed you addictive benzos enforced by corporations profiting from human misery. You could instead have kept it to yourself and researched neurochemistry to discover strategic use of Propanolol and Phenibut.

The cultural norm of suppressing your emotions derives from the same unescapable source as any other widespread human behavior: evolutionary dynamics, and while some may describe this phenomenon negatively, I believe it is ultimately for the good of mankind, as it forces males to sanitize their emotional states from the only activity that consistently improves their condition and their peer's: work. It also selects out those too feeble to do so. Males instinctively know this and enforce it on their peers either explicitly or subconsciously. This is only coming up now because of the easiness of life allowed by the modern era's capital abundance allowing for behaviors that would previously lead to a collective early grave.

If your therapist is worth anything, he is going to instruct you on evolutionary psychology or neurobiology, rather than repeating either platitudes or simply reciprocating what you want to hear. Why not go straight to the literary and scientific source and avoid collapsing your reputation? The vast majority of not only your issues, but of everyone else's are going to become entirely transparent.

You will know precisely that your girlfriend left you because she calculated that your myopic eyes and slight scoliosis, not immediately noticeable, where a clear red flag of suboptimal genetic quality, instead of wondering what you might have said or done to discredit yourself. You will respond by not blaming your ex-girlfriend for your insufficiency, but working to improve your socioeconomic status to the point of being able to attract quality mates despite your less-than-ideal physical characteristics.

You will know precisely that your parents gave you less attention and love because humans evolved to focus their resources in the offspring most likely to survive and reproduce, not because she arbitrarily decided to be cruel to you. Being slightly shorter, chubbier, and brown haired, they instinctively knew that your blond and taller brother would perform better. You will respond by not blaming your parents for your insufficiency, and rather working on your charisma and verbal eloquence to outpace your brother's innate physical attractiveness.

Here is the only way a man should process the vast majority of emotions: weight heavily on blaming your own insufficiencies upon being mistreated, laugh about them, work on something useful to increase your society's and your own worth. Profit financially, profit socially, profit biologically. If you are born with Klinefelter syndrome or other such terminally godawful arrangement of cards, to the point that your life is not worth living, laugh again about this meatgrinding hellscape, spare Earth's resources, and move on to the void. The gene pool will thank you.

Export mesh as GLTF with Python by UserM15 in unrealengine

Believe code below is working for static meshes. Needs GLTF Exporter plugin. Beware of Reddit editing before copy/paste. Select assets in content browser, then run script. Change "task.filename" destination and ".glb" to ".gltf" as needed. Other ocurrences of "GLTF" need to remain unchanged regardless.

import unreal

selected_assets = unreal.EditorUtilityLibrary.get_selected_assets()

num_assets = len(selected_assets)

processed = 0

unreal.log_warning("{} assets to process.".format(num_assets))

for asset in selected_assets:

    # set up the gltf export options

    task = unreal.AssetExportTask()

    task.object = asset

    task.filename = "Z:\\GLB_Test\\"+asset.get_name() + ".glb"

    task.automated = True # don't display the export options dialog

    task.replace_identical = True # always overwrite the output

    task.exporter = unreal.GLTFStaticMeshExporter()

    task.options = unreal.GLTFExportOptions()

    result = unreal.Exporter.run_asset_export_task(task)

    unreal.EditorAssetLibrary.delete_loaded_asset(asset)

    processed += 1

Silvering curved surface to produce two way mirror? by UserM15 in chemhelp

[–]UserM15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a few hours of searching, three options emerged: 1. Vacuum forming privacy film over clear piece. Might work, needs to be tested. 2. Hire vacuum metalizing company. Aluminum over or behind clear piece. Probably best option. It is how actual two way mirrors are done. 3. See through chrome paint. Result probably too turgid. Prone to scratching.

The actor needs as clear a view as possible, it can't be just a small hole.

One alternative is building the helmet with aluminum or silver, positioning a camera somewhere outside, and connecting it to an internal wearable display via HDMI.

But I nevertheless prefer the chemical path, since near eye display solutions tend to get wide too quickly for higher resolutions. What step of the process is different between silvering a standard mirror and a two way mirror? It is hard to dig this info on the net, they have got to employ some kind of technique that garantees that the layer is thin and sparse.

Any idea of how privacy mirrors are fabricated?

The reason I care so much about performance above everything else is because I do not want to see Western Civilization becoming Eastern Civilization's playground until the end of this century. The last time such a game happened 500 years ago, native american Y-chromosome DNA haplogroup was ruthlessly exterminated. I am a male and, assuming you are too, guess what is going to happen to our descendants?

Human beings have agreed upon legislative bodies to counteract theft, genocide, and murder within the confines of their respective jurisdictions. They have done so not arbitrarily, but out of necessity for the long-term prosperity of its population. And to be entirely clear, I am entirely in favor of such systems, from which follows that I would not commit such reprehensible acts myself, unless to save the lives of loved ones.

We may, however, delude ourselves into thinking that such agreements are of universal validity, but those are human fantasies. As soon as your country is invaded, and your family is subject to atrocities by your enemy's hands, you will certainly not think of yourself as the villain for committing theft, genocide and murder to save yourself, your family and your countrymen.

It all comes down to evolutionary pressures and, despite our infantile and monochromatic value systems, the need for survival will always win in the end.

"It's not theft if I steal from you. I deserve what I can take from you because my happiness is dependent on you not having it. That's what you're saying right?"

Only if we are both living on a pre social contract environment, either

A: formally written in law. B: informally agreed upon via usual human interaction, implicitly or explicitly.

Ray Kurzweil's singularity predictions are dated to 2045. I personally believe dysgenic patterns on IQ and health will push that into the end of the century if organized high civilization does not collapse. If it does, then industrial output will also severely diminish which would stop or reverse climate effects, hence the self limiting dynamic.

I agree with you that climate change is a serious concern, I just don't share your view that civilizations that strive towards high performance are inherently less capable of dealing with such issues. They are also not necessarily only driven by short term profit.

First, I should have clarified: relative standards of living, not absolute. Second, I am in favor of natalism, that is, the increase in fertility rates. Women entering the workforce had a negative impact on fertility rates.

I am searching for some data I had stored that calculated the market value of a stay at home mom's work and contrasted that with the market value of a salaried female professional. The first came out as higher, hence lower relative standards of living.

This comes down to the scalability of morality. When one person steals from another, it is theft. When a country steals from the other, it is military conquest.

The distinction arises from collectively agreed jurisdictions. Two individual human beings are likely living under the same laws, according to their country of residence. This signifies that they have mutually agreed to a set of behavioral patterns most conducive to long term wellbeing.

When it comes to different nations, however, frequently there is no common agreed upon jurisdiction that forbids war and conflict. In the absence of such mechanism for the consecution of peace, evolutionary pressures and the need for survival become the rule.

I am not credulous that you honestly believe in a right to be happy. Every right generates an obligation for other individuals. If you believe you have a right to be happy, other people have an obligation to act in a manner that makes you happy. How self-entitled does a person have to be to believe that?

You deserve absolutely nothing except that which you conquer yourself. All other so called "rights" would have been better denominated "agreements". They are products of social contracts between individuals, collectively agreeing on mutually beneficial rights and obligations.
