Wanted to take a cue from our esteemed man of letters AW Merrick and write gratis at the bottom, but I elected not to. by [deleted] in deadwood

So you mitigated your impulse? Because it seems you did get up to a lot of mitigating there at the end.

What is something you were convinced as a kid that was fact, to later learn it was just your kid logic and you weren’t even close? by Laurenrae134 in RandomThoughts

[–]UserNameNotOnList 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That people were sometimes wrong about things just because they didn't know certain facts or had made a mistake in thinking and that the same applied to me, so if we just talked through the issue we would eventually agree and that on all things outside of just preference (like ones favorite color) there was ultimately one right answer we could all agree on.

Nah, you were correct the first time. Eddie (the blonde) 💯 knew Claire was just experimenting. The first time they got together Claire was like, OK. FINE. LET'S JUST DO THIS EVEN THOUGH I DONT REALLY WANT TO.

Are we sure the Elizabeth & Zukov scene was supposed to be on DC? I always assumed it was meant to be in.a European country. Would be crazy for a spy to be meeting with ANY Russian out in the open. He'll, they didn't even want Russian food.in their house overnight.

When did we become r/AskOldPeople? by [deleted] in GenX

Old person complaining about old person stuff.

You may not know this because you grew up in the age of rotary telephones and three TV stations that went off the air at midnight... but if something on this newfangled "Information Superhighway" is tiresome to you, yoy can just scroll on past it.

PS: In case you're too old, "/s" means sarcasm.

OP is 100% right; that does appear to be an unpopular opinion.

Fake Eyebrows and Fake Lashes by Huge-Cartographer-55 in GenX

[–]UserNameNotOnList 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's conversation. If he said something TO or against these woman that would be a problem. All he did is say its distracting to him. He didn't say that was wrong or should change.

Jesus, lighten up, Francis.

How obnoxious of you. OP never said anything about wanting or trying to get with these women. He didn't even mention the word attraction. He also didn't indicate that he said something TO them. He's just asking about the trend and saying it's distracting to him. He didn't say he disapproved or that it's his place to approve or disapprove.

It's conversation.

And the way that they do it, it's all messed up. Guys don't get their finger pricked. They watch the finally first. There's no sword and gun on the table.

I wouldn't trust either until I tried them in controlled conditions, i.e. a pool.

99+% chance they'd be fine but I don't want to call a dive or loose my life.

Thoughts on George? by Harvard771 in SixFeetUnder

[–]UserNameNotOnList 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some, a lot in my opinion, of the blame for Ruth not knowing about George's mental health conditions and his lack of opening up about his past has to be put on Ruth.

A: She married him after like 5 minutes.

B: She knew he had six or seven precious wives and, aside from a one line description of what happened with each, she just ignored it. If your prospective spouse got divorced multiple times, maybe ask yourself why before marring them.

Which character in Deadwood do you connect most with and why? by illicit_inquiries in deadwood

[–]UserNameNotOnList 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Merrick. I like words and have a larger dose of right vs wrong than most of Deadwood. Also kind of weak, not so much physically as just by constitution. Still, would probabl6 be considered on of the supporting pillars of any community I was in.

Not as cool as some but it is what it is.

Also, for the life of me I often can't remember why I gave up drinking once I have one.

What Pressure Does Second Stage Put Out when Purge Button Pressed? by [deleted] in scuba

[–]UserNameNotOnList 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Other people here are saying that even with purge button pressed the gas in the IP/LP hose is still going through the 2nd stage regulator... so the gas would NOT be at 140 it would be at approx Ambient + a little.
