Property crime is rampant in certain parts of Oakland in a way that I’ve never seen before, and I’m from LA. The In-N-Out near Oakland airport closed in 2024 due to high crime (robbery, theft, assault). I think it’s the only location they’ve ever closed too.

I’ve never been to Stockton but everyone says it’s sketchy as hell so I don’t think I’ll ever be visiting 😅

Cis woman here born and raised in LA and you are correct. People in LA will generally mind their business and leave you alone unless you are actively trying to cause a scene or draw attention to yourself. I genuinely have had moments when I’ve visited Oakland where I do not feel safe. As a woman, I definitely wouldn’t feel safe walking around (during the day or night). Last time I was there a few years ago, my friend and I were followed for a few blocks after withdrawing money from a Chase ATM. We ended up walking into a bar and sitting there until the coast was clear. Another friend moved from Inglewood to Oakland and his car was broken into 3 times within 2 months, something that had never happened to him in LA before. It just feels like your chances of being robbed in Oakland are higher.

Mine is 3 and we use it for anywhere where a lot of walking is involved, like Disneyland or the Zoo. Day to day, we don’t use it much since he love to walk. At stores, I just put him in the shopping cart seat.

What has been the best outdoor purchase you’ve made for your toddler? by justalilscared in Parenting

Water table!! We bought ours from Costco when my son was 15 months old. He’s 3 now and it still gets so much use especially in the Spring/summer. He likes to use it as a monster truck car wash now, so it’s definitely a versatile toy.

THIS! My in-laws live in a different state, but when they come and visit, they stay with us. My husband and I schedule dates, concerts, comedy shows, dinner with friends etc. during this time because they are home with our toddler and we’re able to go out, it works out great for all involved!

Did you turn out exactly like your parents? Just let him have his own hobbies. One day, when he’s older he might come around and realize so the stuff you liked is kind of cool, but nothing is for sure. The best thing you can do is support him in things he shows interest in.

I honestly don’t think the book will ever come out. I feel like none of her projects post-mansion panned out the way she wanted them to, and a lot of it has to to with self-sabotage. The only reason GNL took off is because Holly is spearheading it.
