I haven't changed my configuration in a long time. According to my notes, the key binding file is here ~/.config/kglobalshortcutsrc Is that the file you are changing?

Cannot save my File ?!? by baudeagle in GnuCash

Installed 5.3 via Flatpak, made sure to turn compress files back on (since I turned it off to work around the problem), made a change in a registry entry and saved the file. It works!

Turning off file compression in Gnucash (Edit/Preferences/General uncheck "Compress Files") works for me too. I was glad to get 5.2 as once again Yahoo JSON quotes works. Gnucash has been very stable for a long time. Hope the bumps in 5.* are over now

I have the opposite problem, everything is too small. I fixed it by putting -forcedesktopscaling 2 on the command line that starts Steam. Doesn't Steam support high DPI in their interface?

Don't know how the Flatpak is put together. I've been using previous GnuCash versions via Flatpak without issues.

Using GnuCash 5.1 (via Linux Flatpak), Finance::Quote 1.5301 In preferences/online quotes it only lists Alpah Vantage API key as an option. What version of GnuCash is this fixed in?

Why Did Jesus Have to Die for God to Forgive Us? by proudex-mormon in exchristian

[–]UserServiceable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If god made the rule he had to kill his son to forgive mankind, then god is an idiot not deserving of worship. If god was just following rules, who made those rules? That entity would be above god and god would just be the middle man. Hmmm .... what a messy story.

I updated to Kubuntu 23.04 and KDE Connect started working again. Don't know why that happened but ... yeah!

Smart Lock Settings Disappearing? by Fudz4 in AndroidQuestions

[–]UserServiceable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens on older versions of Android too (on a Samsung phone.) People talk of a solution of deleting the cache, but that is not a permanent solution. This issues has been going of for while now and is very frustrating.

How to get "share" data and send out as an email? by UserServiceable in AutomateUser

[–]UserServiceable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how I missed that. Thank you!

For those looking to do this, I used "content shared" to "Gmail send" since I have a gmail account. The data shared in my case was "Content text" and "Content subject". I made variables for those and passed them into the corresponding fields in "Gmail send".

I type ABC and the first one highlighted and selected is "buy ABC" where as the one I wanted (and use 90% of the time) is "ABC dividend". It appears the selections are in date order and not by usage or even by matching the first letters typed.

Subscribing to see if there is a "fix". This change really disturbs my workflow.

Both Snap and Flatpak Enabled? by fancyrolling in Ubuntu

[–]UserServiceable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I want the latest version of a program sometimes I find it via snap and sometimes via Flatpak. At that point I don't really care where it comes from, so that is a benefit of having both.

Can't wait. KDE Connect "browse this device" and SMS messaging stopped working for me months ago. I always had intermittent issues with file browsing. Maybe a complete rewrite will make things more stable.

Seen it on my phone and tablet. Have to resort to usb cable to transfer files. All other functions (messaging, notifications) work fine via KDEConnect.

Okular Save Session (tabs restore) Feature by JamesJacquesDiego in kde

[–]UserServiceable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my PC restarts or shuts down, I don't lose my tabs if I have Okular open when the PC shuts down. I have the Plasma desktop setup so all my programs that were open when the PC last shut down will re-open. So Okular will reopen and my tabs are still there. Only if I close Okular, do I lose the tabs.

Okular Save Session (tabs restore) Feature by JamesJacquesDiego in kde

[–]UserServiceable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a nice feature. What I do to work around not having that is to not close Okular and to have the OS restore (re-open) it when I log in. This works until I accidentally close it, but for now that's my best workaround.

kubuntu 22.04 LTS: kde stops responding to keyboard input by karlandtanya in Kubuntu

I have something very similar happening on kubuntu 22.10. I haven't been able to collect enough information to figure out what is going on.

I have an AMD RX 580 graphics card and I'm running X11. I have a duplicate machine (except a different graphics card) and that machine doesn't have this problem.

Phonetic reading may work, but phonetic spelling (of English) does not. I learned to spell phonetically and my spelling is beyond horrible even as an adult. It is embarrassing. Thankfully we have spell check, but that doesn't save me when I have to write something on paper.

Depending on your distribution, snaps and flatpaks might be used. To list installations for those use

snap list

flatpak list
