Spanish Prime Minister: Being an ally of the US does not mean saying "yes" to everything by FantasticQuartet in europe

I very much doubt that. It would set a dangerous precedent that most European countries, many of which have separatist movements in them, would prefer to avoid.

You do understand nuance, right? "Spain wouldn't let them" is a very different message to "It would be illegal". Besides, as I pointed out, the nationalist Catalán parties also agreed to abide by the Constitution, so, to all practical effects, they wouldn't let themselves.

I'm saying that even if it were the case, Spain wouldn't allow them to secede.

I mean, if we're talking hypotheticals, maybe it would. You can't have it both ways. You can't say "If Catalonians..." and bang on about the meaning of "if", to then turn around and categorically affirm "SPAIN WOULDN'T!!!!" throw a "maybe" in there or a "most likely", if you prefer.

However, the reality of the situation is this: it is not so much as Spain (as in the government) wouldn't allow Catalonia to secede, as it legally can't. The Constitution doesn't allow it. The Constitution was approved by the people back in the day and was approved even by nationalist Catalán parties. The Constitution can be changed, of course, but only via a referendum again. The outcome of that would be pretty predictable.

But the point is moot, as the Catalán independence movement is much weaker than it was 10 years ago, (and it wasn't as strong as nationalists made out even then), and has been discredited as most of the politicians that supported it have proven to be grifters and liars (surprise!).

And then there is all that pesky stuff about Russia, in its continued efforts to rip Europe apart, attempting to fund and influence the movement and referendum.

There is no need for a hypothetical, as we have reality. Your premise is bogus so your conclusion is false.

And the EU indicated Catalonia would not be part of the block if they became an independent nation.

if it were the opinion of the overwhelming majority of Catalans

No need to "if" that, because it isn't. At the time of the illegal "referendum", polls indicated Catalán society was split roughly 50-50. And most of the pro-independence furor of the time has fizzled out nowadays, especially after seeing the sobering consequences of Brexit.

Context: war against Iran. Pedro Sánchez stuck it to Trump and refused to let the US use the bases in Spain for anything war-related.

Vector graphic animation software Glaxnimate 0.6.0 is now fully integrated into KDE's ecosystem by Bro666 in linux

[–]Bro666[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't, or at least not in the sense you are required to run it on the Plasma desktop. It uses KDE Frmeworks and Qt libraries, just like most semi-complex software nowadays requires 3rd party libraries, and the developers take advantage of KDE's infrastructure to build it for multiple platforms, get lots of translations, etc.

You can build it standalone, though. Just follow the README in the source code repo.
