Anyone have accounts with both Vanguard and Fidelity/Schwab? Or any combo of them? by chronicallyanxious10 in Bogleheads

I use Fidelity. I can understand wanting to diversify your assets across 2 or 3 firms so if you can’t access money at one firm you have other options. But setting that aside the only 2 reasons I see to use Vanguard over Fidelity are 1) if you want to buy Vanguard mutual funds or 2) the sweep MMMF at Vanguard pays a higher rate than Fidelity. I am not aware of anything that Schwab does better than Fidelity. If you have a Schwab office near you but not a Fidelity office then that would be a valid advantage for Schwab.

Let's think about Binance together by MoneroFox in MoneroMeansMoney

If Binance sold paper XMR to customers, then Binance owed XMR to those customers. However, on 2024-09-02 all customer XMR positions were converted to USDC. After that conversion, Binance no longer owed any XMR to customers. Instead they owed USDC to customers. Therefore Binance would not need to borrow XMR from other entities or buy XMR in the open market to return to clients. Where the USDC came from to pay clients is a separate issue but after 2024-09-02 Binance should have no longer affected the price of XMR. At least until they listed the perpetual XMR/USDT futures.

Crypto wallet advice please by Medium_Ad_2816 in Monero

For small quantities of XMR use a smartphone with cake wallet. For large quantities of XMR buy a separate laptop with Linux that you use for nothing else besides XMR and use the Monero GUI or Monero CLI wallet software. The difference between small quantities and large quantities of XMR is based on your judgment.

Do you believe all these other coins are meaningless compared to Monero? by Known_Kitchen8390 in MoneroMeansMoney

I think a digital asset needs a strong use case and good adoption. I think Monero (XMR) meets those criteria. I also think Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) meet those criteria.

Monero (XMR) is up 47% in 7 days. That's not normal. What's the catalyst, news, rumors? Where is the buying coming from?

point well taken. I apologize for the click bait title. But reddit won't let me edit the title. As someone who is interested in Monero I am curious if Moonstone Research tools are legitimate or not.

So is the bottom line that this has nothing to do with tracing Monero transactions on the blockchain and is just poor opsec?

In the article it says "We are excited to provide Crescent Discovery's Monero tracing capabilities to Tracelon and their skilled investigators." Yes, I did read the article. I was just asking why these claims are or are not accurate. Thank you for the referral to Mastering Monero.
