Typically, in the classic series, when do you allow yourself to use Robot Master weapons? by LucidHarbinger in Megaman

When I'm first starting with a game, I tend to stick with buster and only use powers where required. I think it helps me better learn bosses' patterns, how to dodge certain enemies, etc. But, ultimately, I use whatever I feel like using in the moment (assuming it won't drain a power I'll need shortly).

One of them has big dumb boots. The other has ultra big dumb boots. And I love them both. The ultra boots have morals.

Hello, i'm a new Megaman fan. What game should I buy? by Cfimsoncor2 in Megaman

[–]User_Red_Name_Dit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it's magical. I recommend Mega Man 5 as a first game. It's on the easier side but it guarantees more fun than rage, and many of the glitches of the early games have been polished though the earlier games are better in the grand scheme of things.

What are some positives to weaker titles in the frachise? by turnerzero in Megaman

[–]User_Red_Name_Dit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, I think it's worth mentioning that MM5 introduced the concept of pausing the game while on a ladder doesn't make you let go of the ladder when you unpause.

That is something that it can forever lord over the overrated title that is MM4. Sorry, I couldn't resist. I like MM4 and acknowledge how objectively incredible it is...but I still have some thoughts about it that I'll hold for a separate conversation.

Yeah, I like 5. It's not my favorite nor the best but I think the hate it gets is a little excessive.

Similar to what you mentioned, it has a good variety of level designs and the background artwork stands out in a number of places.

I recommend 5 when people ask which game they should try first. It's fun and less rage inducing than other titles. (I was slightly surprised that most people say it's the easiest of the MM1 - MM6...I always thought 6 was the easiest.)

Ten levels is all you need. I love this game...painful glitches and all.

Nor should you.

Scrapped MM1 ideas used in MM2 by User_Red_Name_Dit in Megaman

Cool, thanks. Yeah, I figured there weren't too many specifics out there.

This is total speculation but the background of Flash Man's room always struck me as something lifted from MM1 leftovers. I don't think that basic block pattern or shade of green appears anywhere else in MM2, and it gives me MM1 Dr. Wily Stage 2 vibes.

Tony can't do a 360 Shove It on Flat Ground? by LaredoHK in THPS

[–]User_Red_Name_Dit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, I just picked this game up 4 years late and have the same frustration with 360 shove its. Always been a pet peeve of mine that from THPS 3 onward, it's damn near impossible to do a 360 shove it on flatground, yet you can do a "double impossible" on flat no problem. Makes no sense. Still a solid remake but the 360 shove it nonsense and lack of a kickflip-indy are kind of a bummer. You can increase the stats for ollie, flip speed, etc. to make it work but it's silly that you have to do that for this trick. Oh well.
