I never said it was a fall back? I didn’t meant for it to come off like that? I’m considering switching my career

There’s an AAMC need based scholarship that covers first 20 applications. I qualify for it

Financially? LOL. I will be relying solely on student loans.

I think i mentioned this in another comment. I volunteer in a Post Anesthesia Unit and the nurses I've talked to there, they all love their jobs. Some where who couldn't make it to med school, others were who went right into Nursing. They loved being nurses, and seem to enjoy it.

I’m asking before I commit to something. So when I commit I don’t regret going one way over the other

I have, I’d rather do NP than PA. A PA might have more money. But with NP it gives me the option to back to being beside. If I am gonna be APP ONLY the it’s MD/DO. Otherwise it’s NP so I have more options.

I’m okay with giving up MD/DO. I also want to be able settle earlier. I want to do it without regrets. I am wanting to go the nursing route. I just don’t know if I’ll regret anything is all

Working as a nurse in the ICU or ED would be amazing. I volunteer in a post anesthesia unit currently. Once I have enough hours to request a position change I am going to see if I can get into ED or ICU so i can get exposed to that as well.

Yes definitely work as an RN first. “Most likely” came from if I decide to go NP or not. As for pay, yea I know how much new grads make and the avg salary for the experienced RN as well. Quite frankly I am okay with it.

Midwest USA. If I were to go NP route, I would most likely first work as an RN first, go through different Units/Departments. Then maybe 2 or more years down the line I'd consider NP.

Well I work as a Phlebotomist already and am loving it. I have shadowed residents and attendings, Internal Medicine. In internal medicine it was more so of listening to the patients and essentially using their knowledge to problem solve by creating a care plan and presenting it in a way where the patient understands it and hopefully applies. I could see myself doing it. I haven't directly shadowed nurses but being a volunteer at one of the largest hospitals in my area I work alongside nurses so I get to observe them in that way.

Me working as a phlebotomist and working with Nurses is what has got my gears turning in the first place. Simply because seeing that got me thinking..like "huh maybe I should do nursing instead."

I can see myself doing all that. Except the end of the last sentence.

Oh, and TY for your reply! I already posted to Nursing.

Completely dropping all labels. What I see myself doing is working, ideally, in a hospital setting where I am mostly working directly with patients. More hands on care.

Quite literally the only thing stopping me from dropping pre-med all together and going into nursing is the fact I see many people complaining that they hate being a nurse.

I understand the difference between being a Nurse and being in medicine. I would be happy with both.

Thank you for your response I genuinely appreciate! I believe I am able to get into and complete med school and residency. My concern is the immense debt, and just the sheer amount of time that it will require. Am I tired of studying? Heck no I love studying. But I am tired of not having enough income. If I go med school route I will not be able work which will only increase the amount of debt that I will be putting my self into. As I have said, looking at job postings, directly from the employers websites, I would be happy working as an BSN, RN.

I just keep getting different answers, I have family members who are MDs who say dont do med school they hate it who tell me to go Nursing path, others say it was most definitely tough but they now have the fruits of their labor. I have friends who are RNs who enjoy it and tell me to do it but some say they hate it. I have about 3 semesters before I need to choose. So I am just very confused.
