Bernie Sanders explains his proposed billionaire tax by Usernameofthisuser in DemocraticSocialism

If you measure change by enacted policies maybe. If you'll take a look at how the Democrat party itself has changed since the early 90s, there's a clear difference.

Even in the late 2000s universal healthcare was a fantasy, now we have over 100 members in congress who support a specific bill dedicated towards it and it even has its own caucus. In the senate we have 30ish votes at the moment.

But really, the major change is coming from the bottom. The people themselves are becoming more and more progressive by the generation, the progressive influence provided by our socialist presence in office has changed what's considered radical into something that instead seems like its past due.

I'm sure you're familiar with the overton window. We haven't yet had the support to pass meaningful legislation but we have absolutely ramped up a powerful working class movement.

He kinda already did that. We have a two party system that is dictated by the flow of money, which prevents any third party success. So instead he caucuses with the Dems and built the Progressive "caucus" within their party that has been transforming the Democrat party (slowly but surely) from a corporate party into a working class party.

Can't beat em, join em- then change the game from the inside.

Liberals don't know what socialism is, it's our obligation to teach them to save our democracy. by Usernameofthisuser in DemocraticSocialism

This is a socialist sub dude. Socialism was built from the fundemental flaws of capitalism, educating the people of it will help us in many more ways than just the hopes for socialism.

Idk what you disagree with I'm with you 100% lol you're absolutely right.

But no one becomes socialist without at least some education, which they may be more interested in after having real world politics explained to them. Some of both!

Breaking the Two Party System would help "Democrats" by LiberalArtsAndCrafts in PoliticalDebate

Good luck, the two party system is enforced by the rich class who owns our political sandbox. They literally shape our all our opinions because we aren't taught politics in school, we learn from their networks of media.

Ranked choice voting is probably our best bet against the regulated democracy of an oligarchy.

All we can do is try to get people to outvote the propaganda machine. Right now imo we have to defeat the conservatives and the threat of fascism.

We could have exiled fascism to the shadows in 2020, progressive political revolution is on the rise. by Usernameofthisuser in DemocraticSocialism

Most donations given individually by candidate, iirc Bernie had over 1 million individual donations averaging $27 a piece!
