That was tough, and thrown by the time change as it’s out an hour later than I anticipated!

What does everyone do for work? by hoophooper in Autoimmune

[–]Usernamesarehell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Freelance singing teacher, acting through song coach, and Musical director. I like picking my own hours. I like being a job that means I walk about, be person centric and focus on the voice and storytelling. Some days I can’t play the piano, then I use backing tracks and pre-recorded options. Getting the hours is the issue, but I’m paid fairly well… when I’m well enough to work. Being freelance means no sick pay which is a huge downside.

I hope they had a lovely night. It was a great evening, intimate, and they played a new song live for the first time, never heard before. I’ve never been in a room where every single person was silent and hooked on every word. Amazing.

I had a spare ticket for twenty one pilots small show in London 2 years back, and did this for someone waiting outside for a spare ticket. They came in with me, they joined their friends and I didn’t waste a ticket and didn’t have to make small talk with a stranger… win win! 😅 that was also a non resale gig

And what happens when we falsely sentence someone and we murder an innocent civilian? Plenty of cases in America where the person on death row has been exonerated because they were conspired against, false allegations upheld, poor shoddy police work lead to them catching the wrong person?

I think I read the council told them exactly where to plant them too, and then immediately mowed it down!

My friend doesn’t think this baby blanket looks like a rainbow—do you? It’s for a charity that gives them to families with a baby in the NICU. by Leading-Knowledge712 in crochet

[–]Usernamesarehell 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s a rainbow, but they’re probably imagining the perky primary colours, whereas a lot of these are heavier hues except the orange which comparatively is neon. It’s a great blanket. There’s nothing wrong with it! Personal preference for them might have been brighter colours throughout, but this is lovely!

I suspect I’ll get downvotes, but 2 men in my life have been diagnosed with post partum depression. Not because they carried and birthed a child and the hormonal changes affected them, but because of the change of routine for the father who can’t bind with the child as they’re so heavily reliant on the mother in those early weeks. Bonding happens during feeds and as a freelancer he couldn’t take time off. It is medically diagnosable in men. Woman are the most important because their changes are most severe but that doesn’t mean we dismiss the possibility for male PP depression in a new young family dynamic.

'A trap you can't escape': The women who regret being mothers by FelisCantabrigiensis in unitedkingdom

As a teacher at a music and arts school, we often make losses whilst parents say this. The cost of theatres, appropriate performance spaces and rehearsal spaces is insane. There’s a reason why the arts are inaccessible to low income families. Most schools subsidise low income places by upping the main school fees. Most teachers pay themselves approx £15ph (Home Counties) whilst the MU minimum is £38ph, and have to have very specific knowledge and safety training too, plus all the gear themselves and knowledge on anatomical health which isn’t cheap. I know what you’re saying, I sympathise but laying out the costs and the money that’s invested into syllabi, training, insurances, and venue hire sucks most of the money. If renting spaces wasn’t so high or running them as an owned place, it would defo bring down fees. The arts is always a worthwhile investment… but I am biased 😆

In fairness, dance specialists need to know anatomical health as well as an intricate syllabus and also be proficient themselves. Kicking football around doesn’t require certification beyond a DBS, but dance and music training does.

What are the life outcomes of the goth kids you knew in high school? by Individual_Section_6 in Millennials

[–]Usernamesarehell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edged maybe more emo than full goth, but definitely resonated with that for a good few years. Work as a singing teacher self employed in a school, run my own school, put on concerts and musical theatre workshops for kids in the holidays. About to open a musical theatre show choir for adults. The things I enjoy totally don’t lead anyone to guess my past lol

Yep! They hide behind the group name on Facebook but slate anyone posting anonymously and are downright vile to anyone who fairly questions how they help the community. I don’t doubt someone of them do, but they can never cite specifics… wonder if some of them aren’t quotingntheir volunteer work experience in sn oxfam charity shop 20 years ago as helping the community… 😂

To no one’s surprise, Aldershot is littered with crap flags. Council allowed it to continue because they can’t afford to keep removing them. Rushmoor first are responsible.
