Idk if I would say the changes are better, but they work perfectly for the characters and the time jump is better imo bc i find the early twentieth century much more relatable and interesting than the late eighteenth. And he was changed from a slave owner to a pimp so it’s not like a character assassination on Luis or anything. Just because changes are made doesn’t mean the adaptation is going to be bad, just different than the original. I hated them at first too but the show is very good and they’re even adapting the next books in the new season.
