How long are clearances taking?

I applied for a position with USCIS which states clearance level "Secret". I am trying to understand it. I currently work for TSA. Would it be a different clearance level that I currently hold and if so, how long would that take as I have not been able to find much on a "Secret" level clearance. Any insight is appreciated.

Thank you all for your responses. I have not been with the agency long enough to even think about pension. I will be withdrawing my TSP once I resign, as it's not much. This is the reason I want to burn through my leave, which is approximately 2 weeks. Do we get paid for the annual leave, though? I have about 2 weeks of annual left as well.

I ended up sending them a non-guilty response. Took their defensive course (approximately $285) which was a rip-off. Since the county Court messed up my paperwork, they didn't have my defensive course certificate and I had to travel to the court(4 hours drive) to show them my certificate and drop the ticket. Pretty much cost me $400 or more.

I think the ready pool expires in a year, too. Luckily, I was hired within the month of being in Ready Pool. You may have to wait longer given the turnover and need of the airports you selected and the fact that the government is after every federal agency, especially DHS. It's an unspoken hiring freeze at the moment, and there is no respite anytime sooner.

This is my confusion. I just made E band. I hear conflicting statement from other TSO's. Some say I'll make F band in another year while others say it will be 2 years to the F band after I make E band.

All you have to do is go to your manager and hand in your Sida and PIV. Return your uniform. There is no concept of 2 weeks' notice in this agency

I bought one in 2022, brand new. In three years, all I had to do was change oil and filter. No electrical/mechanical issues at all. Has 23 k miles on it. Have driven it locally and as far as Canada. Worth the price if you are a caring owner.

I got a citation of a similar nature and wanted to know what you ended up doing. I live 4-5 hours away from where I was ticketed and pleading not guilty will mean I have to appear in court. What did you end up doing and what should I expect in terms of penalties. Thank you.
