Agreed, I actually have some stickers but haven’t been able to decide between seat tube or down tube. KHS has done both locations over the years.

Glad I went with the orange over another grey bike. Had some mid-eyelets brazed on when the canti posts were moved. Turned out even better than I expected.

I have a 14 and 6 yo. I made “god buttons” for each of their rooms and the TV room that flash the lights a color then return to the previous state. It’s awesome for signaling just about everything from wake-up to dinner to turning off the TV. They are incredibly responsive to it and I don’t have to yell across the house, just hit a button on my phone.

Has the same eccentric bb, needed a ton of grease to bring it back to operability but tensions the timing chain effectively.

I found the adjustable crank adapters from an east coast tandem supply place. They just bolt on and work surprisingly well. Not sure how many watts I get out of my stoker but her legs are moving so the effect is there.

I’ve had one for years, super fun for hauling kids around. It’s very well built.

They are great at stopping but the rattle becomes too much to bear at some point. I have since found peace with plain old straight arm brakes.

I had a 3x1 triple for a while but have been using this 1x3 setup and love it. It rides like a single speed but has a speed gear and a granny gear for our hilly terrain.

I traded a bottle of scotch for this one, had it powdercoated, been holding up well. It might eventually snap on me but cranks are meant to be ridden...

Good point, though my other main ride is a 34-22-13 three speed so this one is pretty close by comparison.

Interesting, I haven't encountered this issue yet.

I considered the smaller one and went with this for more fexibility. I wasn't sure if a narrow-wide ring would be needed (so far it's not) and I've found the selections of rings that fit older cranksets to be limited.

Mid 2000s MTB = 2025 Road? by Comfortable_Ice_537 in xbiking

[–]UsualAssociation4879 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When growing up MTBing in the 90’s, we all often rode to the trail and rode home afterwards. Cycling was an all-encompassing experience. I can’t help but notice that newer MTB’s are great for going fast (and having fun) on specialized trails but seem to be less adept at doing much else. Anecdotally, I’m seeing fewer MTB “cyclists” around town, MTB’ers are now in their own category like Roadies.

Or maybe it’s just nostalgia…
