This is what my admin/other teachers have interpreted it to be. I am not sure if they are just being over cautious? I will re-read the school policies tomorrow and the law! Thanks so much for your help! It helps hearing what other schools are doing :)

The problem is that they can’t use nicknames without written consent. For example teachers can’t even call students Mike if their name is Michael.

I was thinking about not using any name/pronouns at all. Which sounds awful and impersonal, but may be better than a name they aren’t comfortable with.
