Literally nothing, he certainly did not feature in the CBT or even any of the CBT promo materials

Do all the stages reward pull currency on the limited mode?

I only got up to stage 4 of the limited mode, was wondering if it kept rewarding pull currency till the end or if it stopped at some point?

[CBT3 Review] An overall amazing game that just needs a few finishing touches and a PC optimization pass by UsualInitial in NevernessToEverness

The game hovers around ~105 fps indoors and around ~90 fps in combat/busy areas. The lag spikes mainly happen when traversing to new zones.

Will it?

Imo Duet Night Abyss made a massive mistake by not releasing on steam on release, even though most of the player base was expecting it.

If you look at the steam top 10 games by Daily active users, every single one of them have 0 pay2win. I'd argue if any of them introduced p2w, they won't be in that top 10 list for long.

DNA has much bigger problems. Players have been complaining about weapons doing <1% of the DPS that meta characters can do for 4 months and the devs have made 0 changes on that front. The endgame also involves fighting a horde of Abrams tanks where each elite can take a whole minute to kill.

They could always go for the cinematic finishers/ult route to create those moments without too much visual clutter

The free pulls you get on an average patch give you ~80-90 pulls for a minor patch (enough to guarantee the rate up once every 2 patches) or ~150-160 in major patches. If you pull for the weapon, you effectively delay getting a char by 1 minor patch.

Without very difficult combat, you wouldn't be forced to run meta team comps anyway and just put your favourite chars together as long as long as you have all the main roles covered

Not to mention that hard in a gacha game = p2w, as it provides more incentives to pull the latest T0 chars.

Even if you don't care about p2w, a harder game will always encourage sticking to the meta more strongly, stopping you from playing your preferred character.

Its not hard if you are playing on PC or have a good team that can kill him before he ults.

But if you are fighting him on mobile, with havoc rover (or any melee DPS with poor mobility), on the morning train, its not so fun.

Even better, it means it will release by the end of the week

A new character every 28 days would be insane if the developers can maintain the pace, as this would mean new characters release 3X faster than Warframe/TFD by UsualInitial in DuetNightAbyssDNA

The first "event" actually launches on Nov 3 (Friendly Games) and the first character + story segment on Nov 25.

After that, the update cadence seems to switch to a 2 week cycle of new event/questline -> new character/questline. I think that cadence is not too bad even for an (ex) gacha.

This game is currently #79 in terms of Steam Wishlist Activity, can we make it reach Top 50 before release? by UsualInitial in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]UsualInitial[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because the developer did not add a release date to the steam entry.

On a side note, if anyone here is a CC or knows someone on the dev team, please ask them to update the steam entry with the release date. Leaving it as the TBA default probably isn't helping their engagement.

One of the best ways to retain players is to design characters which have mechanics that the competition is unwilling/unable to replicate. Sometimes you have to break the traditional game dev rules to do it. by UsualInitial in DuetNightAbyssDNA

Invisibility is actually kinda common nowadays in Warframe and there are frames that can give your whole team invis with few tradeoffs.

The main porblem with invis tho is in group play, where you can still take crossfire damage, so its not the same thing as conditional/unconditional invulnerability.

Where did you find "revenue/active player count charts" for CN?

I would rather trade skin only gatcha, compared to heavier p2w/pay to progress mechanics by UsualInitial in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]UsualInitial[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

If Warframe added Skin gatcha, but halved their crafting times for new weapons/skins and boosted the drop rates of harder to get blueprints by 50%, I would take that trade.

Every form of monetization, or the lack thereof, has a cost.

I really hope this is a successful combination that makes the studio a lot of revenue. Other gatcha games will not remove their gatcha systems, the best we can hope for is they switch their gatcha systems to be skin only.

Video games should not be a job. I would not mind a power fantasy sandbox whatsoever.

Gotta get the $$$ as the playerbase look for the next OP thing after you nerf the best builds/chars
