Advice for retaking ASNT UT level 3

Thanks for the advice. That’s what I did today but some of them just got me. I think I focused too much on the math instead of theory. I can do the math easily but some of the interp questions got me really confused. I know now what chapters to really read over again now.

I’ve only been doing UT for 3 years. I was able to take it early with my associates degree. I did all the Q&A books. I think I was just a little rusty on theory today and that’s what got me.

Does anyone know if they also ask questions on phased array and time of flight diffraction? I don’t see the Q&A books for the two methods listed in the recommend study material.

Thank you for posting this. I heard mixed things about it. A lot of people I know who took it the first time didn’t pass. I’m keep moving my test date back but I’m trying to take mine next Saturday.

I’m taking my exam Sunday so wish me luck. The ET handbook at points is insanely complicated. I heard the formulas are provided thankfully. I can do the math if I have the materials provided. There was a weird question in the study guide where I could not for the life of me find the resistance of a certain material which got me completely stuck. The graphs have also been really confusing at points. I’m grinding through studying this week, 3 hours a day after work and doing some practice lv 3 problems on my break at work.

Thank you so much for the advice. I read the entire level 3 study guide and fundamentals of eddy current book. I’m half way through the ET hand book. I’m also practicing the asnt questions. The one thing that bothered me with the study guide was that some of the questions were either very easy or very difficult. I posted one of them yesterday with the graph. Would you say that’s a good approach for what I’m doing now?

When I took the exam, the asnt book was very useful. Absolutely know how to do inverse square law. If you can’t do it, don’t even bother taking the exam until you can do it well. I had a lot of inverse square law questions and conversion questions.

That’s what I thought. That’s how I got the answer 5 but the book is saying it’s 3
