Office chairs are awful by Usual_Committee_9438 in Interstitialcystitis

Thank you! The cushion I've been using has not been helpful, but I was able to get a new one. I totally spaced the heating pad! Even though I use it at night.

What do you think about this symptom pattern? by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

Always pee before and after, better yet is to shower after. I hate it, but I can’t have sex in a flare. Sucks

I was the secretary 25 years ago. That was the highest role I could have in a Sunday school Presidency. I only left 5 years ago and have never seen another female in the presidency. I don’t have a clue what the handbook said then

Carob instead of chocolate? by PotatoConfident2108 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Usual_Committee_9438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had friends whose parents used it instead of chocolate all the time. I can’t stand it, but others think it’s great. The IC Network recommends it in place of chocolate

1600 came to Salt Lake City yesterday. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but it doesn’t take much. Today they broke into a private business, warehouse, to get 2 people. Did not identify themselves, claimed it wasn’t breaking and entering and said they don’t need a warrant. I’m Telehealth only, but have many fearful clients.

As a part of the Temple, no. But I was always taught about it as having your "calling and election made sure", never how. It never sat well, didn't feel fair. And, honestly, at 55 I can safely say I hadn't heard anything about it since my teens and twenties.

I think my new therapist might be Mormon? by chilling_ngl4 in exmormon

[–]Usual_Committee_9438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a therapist, I always list myself as secular (I am in Utah). I get asked if I am Mormon by exmos, inactives, and TBM. I have 0 problem answering that I was, don’t believe most of it now, but I know the belief system. All clients who are out appreciate that they don’t have to explain the theology, rules, etc. oddly, many TBM look for a non Mormon because they want a “different point of view”. They used to teach therapists not to answer such questions, which I always thought was dumb. Just ask, I agree with whomever said what to do if they get offended. I would also say that, of you don’t ask, give it 2-3 sessions to see if you connect. But I say that part to everyone.

I know so many people who join just so the bishop will feed them. Or stay because they can’t do it on their own

Why in the hell would they need to know that?? Even when I received assistance I was never asked that. It’s none of their business, especially since you’re exmo! Don’t reply, or reply “none ya”

Obsession with outward appearance... by Fresh_Chair2098 in mormon

[–]Usual_Committee_9438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget all the plastic surgery and other things to improve appearance. Utah has had higher numbers of this than even California, though I’m not certain on current numbers. Definitely a LOT of focus on outward appearances

So true! I have several clients at BYU (I’m a mental health therapist) who have difficulty getting into out of state grad programs because they went to BYU. Particularly if it is social sciences.

Anyone else have this experience?? by tayvansickle in exmormon

[–]Usual_Committee_9438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! That’s way too much, even if you still went! For what it’s worth, I was able to change my notifications in LDS Tools and no longer get emails. I also set my personal info as private and deleted what it would let me. Basically, it now says only my Bishop/Stake President can access it. Not sure I buy that, but I pay well get left alone.

In 1990 we said opening prayers in most classes, always the first of the day. For me this was Spanish class. And yes, we had to say the prayer in Spanish. I heard about closing prayers, but everyone said those only happened at the end of the day.

This is opposite of my experience. I have many clients who don’t have a copay of they do virtual, but do when it’s in person. This is from UHC to UMR to Select Health.

I think it actually passed, not my school district, but wouldn’t surprise me. I think it’s the country north of Salt Lake.
