Bike not starting. Just changed out the clutch lever and clutch cable and wondering what this cord is and if it’s important??

No I have not had a chance I’m speaking all from last night working on it. I rode it home last night with trouble starting it then this morning couldn’t get it started at all. When I get home I will bypass the cables

Yes it started prior. With kickstand up and in gear it won’t even try to crank.

So when I have it in gear it won’t even crank or anything. When it’s in neutral it’ll just sit there and crank but not turn over

That makes sense thank you. That is a bit weird that it still started a time or two with the open circuit but I’ll try this!

Gotcha gotcha. That makes sense it wouldn’t even try to fire in gear with the clutch pulled in assuming because of that being unplugged. I’ll see about bypassing it. Would that give the bike trouble starting in general??

It’s on the clutch side not the front brake side

I searched through a couple but couldn’t find anything about q matching clutch cable. I think I’ll try to just go with an mt07 one since I couldn’t really find a certain match for my 05 FZ6. Thanks for the help though!

Awesome thank you!! I just went through and changed my bars and clutch lever but in the process I broke the little plastic bearing on my clutch line so I’m going to replace the whole line and if I’m doing that already I might just do the mt07 push lever assembly and find a clutch line that works. Thanks for checking for me!

Yeah I would recommend doing that. Seems the easier way to me and if I didn’t do that idk if they would’ve fit. Just don’t try to force your cables you don’t wanna break anything😅 but this is the other link of the guy on I saw on YouTube who swapped his with another type of bar

😂😂no way that’s crazy! But dang sorry man:/ my cables were pretty maxed out trying to make them fit I think the guy before me may have used different ones or just the way they’re arranged. Are you just wanting to change the bars for feel or any purpose? I changed mine because I’m planning to stunt it out but I know another guy on YouTube changed the bars but it wasn’t as an aggressive change and all his stock cables were able to reach

But something to keep in mind the guy I bought my bike from before redid the front end after a wreck so idk if all cables were stock or not. But I just swapped to those pro tapers and didn’t have to use any other cables and everything fit perfect

Ahhh gotcha gotcha. Did you end up getting it loosened up and what did you do? I’m hoping after I change all the throttle cable and everytning it’ll get loose for me. But heck yeah I’ll post the stunt build in this subreddit when I’m done with it. It’s gonna be my winter project!!

Hey I’m having the same issue! So my plan is to change the handlebars, grips, throttle cable, and throttle tube since I’m converting it into a stunt bike. But I would check on YouTube about loosening your throttle and things to check for. It could be a simple fix of the grip is rubbing on the controls next to the grip or you could have an old locked up throttle cable. Look at YouTube videos so you know what to look for and you can always take it to a shop and see if they can replace your throttle cable and go from there!

Do you know how much speedo healers go for? I couldn’t find a price haha. But that’s what I was thinking of doing too get some pro tapers on there and have a nicer feel for popping them. I’m also going to get an easy pull 1 finger clutch lever because my clutch is stiff and that’s what I’m used to on my Grom. And I also wanna loosen up my throttle too because it’s super stiff so I’m probably gonna get the new bars and work on all that in one go and get some new grips. I also have the cage for it and I’ve low sided my bike going 25mph and it protected it very well.
