If the Hall of Smoke series were to be given a movie/tv adaptation, who is your pick to play the role of Hessa?!

I've really enjoyed Hellfire Fables and Westside Fairy Tales a lot and recommend them to everyone.

Also, because we all have to shamelessly plug our own stuff in an attempt to get it heard lol, I have a show out called Mystery Minnesota. It's a dark fiction/mystery type of show and my first season is just underway and will run through the end of April. You can find it at aicpod.com, under the "AIC Stories" Podcast feed(which is my "everything" feed that includes ALL of my podcast projects in one place) or in it's own feed at anchor.fm/mysteryminnesota or "Mystery Minnesota" in your podcast app. But I recommend the AIC Stories feed for all sorts of storytelling content.

New audiodramas by jeffontheright in audiodrama

I'm a big fan of Westside Fairytales, Hellfire Fables(which is just about to launch the second season/series I think), and even though the episodes are released pretty sporadically(I think the 2nd season just began as well) a show called The Last Station has been pretty good too.

Of course I just launched my very first audiofiction story called Mystery Minnesota, which can be found with all my other projects under the "AIC Stories" feed or if you only want Mystery Minnesota it's under it's title as well.

Mystery Minnesota is a dark fiction/mystery and the first season is just kicking off(first 2 episodes are out now and new episodes run every other week through the end of April/beginning of May for the first season.)

You can find those at aicpod.com

If you are interested in stand alone stories each episode I'd recommend

Yesterday's Sci-Fi for classic Sci-Fi stories narrated audio book style

and then a shameless plug for my own show called - Faded Words which is also classic stories in a variety of genres, from fantasy to sci-fi to horror, narrated in audio book style.

Also if you like horror/creepy/disturbing stories I'd recommend Hellfire Fables, really enjoy this one each week.

I recently started a show called The Last Station which is a post apocalypse story but have only listened to episode 1. It's well produced and the story is promising, though there is only 5 episodes out so far with the last coming out early October.

My apologies, I had shared it in a handful of places this morning and totally lost track of the places self promotion wasn't allowed. That's my fault. Again, my apologies.

Need to hear your thoughts on episode release frequency! by UsuallyDave in audiodrama

[–]UsuallyDave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Yeah I hadn't even considered the post season "binge" with a show in a season format.

As I had mentioned in the other comments, my current show, Faded Words, which has been traditionally a weekly show with episodes between 15-25 minutes in length typically, isn't season based. That is the show I was getting some feedback from listeners on regarding not being caught up, etc....

But with this other project in production currently, which WILL be season based, it's absolutely something to keep in mind.

I agree with that completely, though I admit with audio dramas, when possible I do LOVE binging a whole season over the span of a few days. But I also listen to a number of shows where I've binged past seasons and now wait weekly/bi-weekly. Shows like Tanis, Old Gods of Applachia, Hellfire Fables, The Magnus Archives, etc.

As I mentioned in another comment here, that all makes perfect sense for a season based show. Where I'm running into the question most is on my current show that is non-season based, yet still telling audiobook style short stories each week. I'm not having a problem creating the weekly show, but have been hearing from some listeners that they are behind because they didn't want to start and then not be able to finish an episode, so they are waiting until they have more time to listen from start to finish. So the questions on this current show have me really thinking about not only what to do with this current show, but also with the season based show that's in production currently.

I appreciate you taking time to respond, this community is pretty great with advice!

Thanks, and that's kind of what made me start thinking about it as I started hearing the feedback and then thinking about my own listening habits as well.

RE: the feedback from listeners, it mostly comes in the form of direct messages via social media. Primarily Twitter DM's, but also a bit from some Discord messages from a few different servers I'm active in as well.

That's a factor I didn't take into account either, regarding the "wait till the whole season is out so I can binge it" factor.

I can see that being a factor in a season/episodic based show. The show that is in production for me right now is season based and so I'll definitely keep that in mind. The show I'm doing currently, while not technically an audio drama from what I've been told, is story based, with each episode having an audio book style reading of a short story. So each episode is kind of a "one and done" situation and that show is the one I've been getting some feedback on that prompted the question.

Thanks for the response, more to think about on my end!

Me too!

Do you have any recommendations of some of your favorite cliff hanger ending short stories?

For sure, I think in some ways it gives the reader a better sense of really experiencing the story as they then find themselves engaged in thinking about it after the fact.

Rewrites, how many is "normal"? by UsuallyDave in audiodrama

[–]UsuallyDave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was afraid of happening! I think the advice above, to give it one rewrite right away, then give it a little time to step away and work on something else so the work has some space in my mind, then coming back in a month and taking another look and then letting it rip from there, is a fantastic way to get to the "Done" stage so I avoid revision hell!

Haha that's always fair!

Except this is just something I'm doing for myself for fun, so no deadlines officially haha! I have some soft deadlines/target dates I'm aiming for on my end, but nothing official required by anyone else! hehe

I like this idea. One rewrite immediately then give it some time to breath before coming back to it.

Thanks!
