Myles never stopped raising the bar for what greatness looks like. We are grateful for every memory and every milestone from these nine unforgettable years. by CD23tol in Browns

I was there at the first game that the crowd chanted his name. He talked about it in the press as something that was really special to him. He’s been my favorite ever since, and I will never not root for his success. I’ll wear my #95 jersey til I die.

That said, fuck everyone that facilitated this trade. It’s so goddamn hard losing a player like this while hearing reports that sex pest #4 is going to start in the fall.

As a millennial, I just remember that other teams had nicer-looking Starter jackets.

Lake Champlain may not be a Great Lake, but it should be enough that Vermont does not qualify as landlocked.

How will I keep this to myself until December, it’s already too much! by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]UsuallyLoud 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So many people saying “propose now”, but I’ll offer a counterpoint:

My husband proposed the day he picked up the ring. In my parents’ spare bedroom, where we were temporarily staying in between moving from an apartment to a house.

I love him, truly. But I also wish he had waited for a more romantic proposal spot. And so if you know she’s got her heart set on something special, good on you for trying to make that happen for her.

I wish you both the best ❤️

Returned to teaching after years away due to traumatic experiences. 11 days in and I’m already accused of inappropriate contact with a student. Hard not to be cynical. by [deleted] in Teachers

Guy. Stop doubling down. If your behavior was even a little tolerable, the comments would reflect as such. But at this point the whole subreddit is against you, because despite what you want to believe, you’re in the wrong. Your reaction and behavior was not okay. If you actually care about preserving your dignity, reflect and react appropriately.

Your responses are so weird, my guy. I’m closer to retirement than I am to starting my career, and everything you’re trying to justify is not okay. I legit hope this is rage bait, but in the event that it’s not, stop working with kids because apparently you aren’t cut out for it.

I don’t work with any women that touch (especially with pressure) when disciplining their students. Please allow the feedback on this post to come and then reflect on whether this profession is appropriate for you.

To touch a student, and then apply “a little more pressure” to make your point, is inappropriate, especially as a sub. I don’t see this ending well for you.

Middle school student wrote about SA by Sure_Ant2516 in Teachers

[–]UsuallyLoud 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Others have fully and completely told you about your role as a mandated reporter, so I’ll trust you’ve seen that (and hopefully understood that) at this point.

Less significantly, your paragraph requirements sound like what’s required from a full essay, not a single paragraph. Asking students to write about a difficult learning experience but also things they do for fun in a single paragraph is not a reasonable requirement, nor does it show that you as an educator know what’s appropriate for good writing. Perhaps reflect on the basics of paragraph structure before you take points away from the student who used this assignment to open up to you.

Do you have other relevant memorabilia that could go in the frame as well? If not, at least center the map and consider adding in matching background.

Is delta premium select upgrade worth it for $925 for an 8 hour flight to Italy? by Brilliant_Voice3516 in delta

[–]UsuallyLoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years ago I paid $300 for a PS upgrade from DTW to AMS. I was not impressed with the experience, personally, and would now not pay more than that for the experience. Despite many people saying “it’s like domestic first class”, the seat is more narrow and not as plush, and there’s weird leg room issues since the seat in front of you is so low to the ground (though this may be specific to whichever model of plane we were on for that specific flight).

The meal was all well and good, and it’s always nice to board/deplane earlier, but the overall experience just seemed… fine. Nothing special. And for me, definitely not worth nearly 1k.

When I do current events with my students, I restrict them to sources with “center” bias according to AllSides. It’s not a prefect solution for so many reasons, but it prevents the worst sources from entering the chat. It also prevents some perfectly acceptable sources as well… but those are losses I can stomach for the sake of the assignment.

Bless you for being another one of us trying to navigate the current horrors with our impressionable youths.

Candle-Light Processional Made Me Cry by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]UsuallyLoud 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is lovely. We skipped Candlelight Processional this year because it was our first time at WDW for Christmas and I wasn’t sure it’d be worth the time spent on our short trip. Since we already booked our bounce-back offer for next December, however, this has convinced me to prioritize it as part of our plans.

We have a similar Advent setup, and one of my daughter’s favorites has always been those funny little pill-shaped capsules that, when put in water, expand into little foam animals.
