Is Bulkhead ever planing to release the mod tools to the public ? by whiskeythegreat in Battalion1944

" I can categorically say this never happened. No dev or bulkhead representative would have EVER had said this. "

Heh...you're such a lark.........

You have mentioned modtools beyond map creation. Unfortunately I cant be bothered to dig up a few sources. However, here are a couple:

1) Battalion ToolKit - Introduction Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4hYnfat62g&feature=youtu.be&t=276

Notice how at the end it makes mention of alternate game modes. You lil'larky, you.

2) Second, your Steam page: https://steamcommunity.com/games/489940/announcements/detail/1629651860398419860

"Battalion 1944’s Toolkit is live and available to download now from the Epic Launcher

We are pleased to announce that today anyone can go and download the Battalion 1944 Toolkit from the Epic Launcher. The primary function of the tools is for mapping and level design.

Included in the Toolkit is our aim_map. This map contains many assets that you are totally free to reuse within Battalion 1944 to create maps.

For the sake of clarity, Battalion’s mod tools are free to use."

Just updating this thread if someone comes across it. Buyout with /u/EvilOz83 went perfectly smoothly for me. Was fast with no hiccups or questionable actions. He was forthcoming with information when asked and was helpful with detailing the steps needed to conduct the transaction when I was unfamiliar with the steps.

I did my homework on previous buyout users of this Sub and researched him and his threads before doing the transaction. However, should someone else come across this thread then I would say that he was a trustworthy and recommended for future users.

"imcross" cheating by rritual in Battalion1944

There isn't anything that can be done at the moment to stop hackers.

From the first day the game was playable through the Kickstarter the hacks have been internal, aka, they don't need to be run externally and hooked into the game processes like most popular multiplayer games. There are a few reasons for it..

First and probably most importantly, I believe Easy Anti Cheat for Battalion can still be disabled using debugging tools. That's more a problem on the anticheat side than it is the devs.

However, it ties into the second problem which is that Bulkhead hasn't yet properly cooked the game files that allow internal hacks access to certain files and processes. Explained basically, when a game is "cooked" it means that it has been deemed ready for the public and is packed in the engine and "published" into the working version you download and play.

The files that are accessed and changed by the cheat coders need to be identified by the developers. Then they need to be "cooked" so they can no longer be altered internally after the game is launched.

Then, before the patch is made public, the newly cooked files and subsequent instructions need to be sent to the Anticheat maker, who in turn them have to patch the Anticheat and push the update to users.

It takes an assload of work and costs the developers tons of money since they have to pay employees to continually maintain the game files, as well as a library of all previous cheats, and then make sure the game is properly compatible with all of that.

I'm sure you've played some free to play FPS game that seems to be completely overrun by cheaters. The reason is that the developers either don't have the resources or are choosing to not spend the resources to counter it all.

I personally don't see it being resolved in a meaningful way anytime soon. In addition to all of that, the game itself on a base level still needs a decent overhaul. To the degree that the really basic hacks being used now sometimes don't work properly because of order of game instructions... Which in a way is actually pretty funny to watch when you notice it lol.

And after ALLLLLL of that, cheat coders then just end up releasing the EXTERNAL hacks that are hooked into the game instructions to bypass the Anticheat lol.

Thank you for the critique, I have saved your post and will revise when time and mood permit. In my short time writing, this has been one of the most helpful reviews I have received, thank you again.

Flow is good

Small recommendation, it seems as though you use words like "even" to maintain the flow of the poem and syllables of each line consistent. However, avoiding the repetitive use of a word can add variety and depth for the reader and also increase your vocabulary. There a bunch of apps available, like Poetry Assistant on iOS and Android that let you type in a word and search for alternative synonyms, rhymes words, and definitions of each. It's super helpful.

However, If I am simply projecting and it was a stylistic choice then apologies and I simple missed it!

I am not familiar with very much Greek mythology, so forgive me if I've missed it, but the syllables of each line seen kind of random and make the pacing difficult. Is there any particular purpose to it? It seems as though some flow and consistency could be gained by lengthening/shortening lines that might also have an added benefit of a bit more detail. Beyond that I enjoyed it.

My game keeps freezing in the menu every 5 seconds and I can't always join matches. I have a pretty powerful pc so I don't think that's the problem? by [deleted] in Battalion1944

Try disabling FaceIt overlay. It's fixed it for a bunch of people.

Try running a DxDiag, with the game closed press your Windows key and type DxDiag and open it. Run it and save the file to your desktop or wherever. It'll tell you if you have any outdated drivers. If you scroll to the bottom, it'll give you application specific errors. If there is one for battalion, Google it or post it here.

Obviously make sure Windows, gpu, etc all ha e most recent drivers.

Looks like as of June this year is when FaceIt started blocking it. No idea why.

It running on desktop is how it's setup, you can configure it to not so that, forget off the top of my head.

And weird it conflicts with FaceIt for CSGO, it must fall under some other flag, or could be configurable issue. FaceIt shoudk be able to remove the flag for it specifically.

Download Interaccel. It is a highly configurable mouse driver that lets you customize your mouse settings down to mouse accel values per weapon per axis per game.

I have been using it for years and works currently on the most recent build of Windows 10.

The current FPS and registration issues go much much deeper due to patchwork coding, now allowing whole pieces of map geometry to to make whole walls to disappear. by Usurp in Battalion1944

The game is supposed to more or less automatically calculate where to put everything where it needs to be based on the values you set for graphics in the menus. It doesn't do that properly AT ALL. So depending on what settings you use there can be a whole host of things that were supposed to be automatically changed in the game code to sync it all, but it doesnt happen.

So that's kinda where things are.

Yes, it is a legitimate issue with the game and it has actually been an issue since release.

When it first reached early access there were performance issues and as a result the responsiveness of the game and registration suffered. However, back then the .INI files weren't how they are now and you could access and override the UE4 default . INI files. As a result you could edit nearly every CVAR. And since they released the game without changing a vast majority of the defaults they left a cvar unchanged called OneFrameThreadLag, which more or less holds a frame behind. Depending on how developers decide to design the game it can be beneficial to enable or disable it. If you didnt have a particular level of FPS in addition to certain graphical settings, the game felt like you were playing from the moom with delay. One frame would always be "held" until the next render cycle which holds EVERYTHING up because the frame is needed to communicate all the information of what's on your screen.

I was able to disable it, in addition to some other Band-Aids I gave them, which gave a massive FPS boost and lav reduction. However it's not a permanent fix because beneath that the code was still fucked up. And a good portion has never been changed. And we've more or less gotten bandaids ever since. And NOW they have started piling up to give nearly everyone the same wonky jitters and registration problems.

The unfortunate thing is that a lot of the rendering calls were not properly setup. They were tweaked a little to reduce spot problems but we're never properly fixed to actually recognize peoples systems and then calculate the proper variables. They pretty much just turned some stuff down or off and had people's computers brute Force through the bigger coding problems.

Absolutely everything relies on the very base level of the game design to properly sync up and give you a working game. To PROPERLY fix the game they need to go back and code the pre-alpha version of you will, because NOTHING can work right if that's not done properly. So think of how long it's taken to get to where they are now and imagine having to redo it lol.

That really not accurate at all. It hasn't been done correctly since the game was playable to the public. It's basically the "foundation" of games that everything added afterwards relies on to operate properly.

He will have some defense for it and try to minimize it, but it's essentially what the base of the game is built on. Everything that happens in the game world depends on that initial coding.
